Best 2019 Albums

hi guys, it's been a while ...

Dark clouds sometimes seems to clear up and let pleasures of simple things resurface sometimes.

I don't think I saw a thread about the best albums from last year, although it's already late January.
I deliver to you the albums which seemed to me to be the best during this (nightmare) year. My choice is rather quite eclectic and varied:

Tool - Fear Inoculum. A masterpiece
Soen - Lotus. Power in melody. To listen to urgently. some chorus are just fantastic.
Avatarium - The Fire I Long For. I deeply believe that Leif Eidling should let Marcus Jidell pilot the ship alone with his wife Jenny-Ann Smith. This album is an antidote ...
Rotting Christ - The Heretics. Madness of Christian Church seen by these masters of melodic and orchestral black. Guaranteed "The Name of the Rose" atmosphere.
Darkthrone - Old Star. Endless riffs factory . In Honor of Billy.
Monkey3 - Sphere. An instrumental Swiss post rock with Pink Floyd resonances. Top quality.
Mother Of Millions - Artifact. Amazing Progressive band from Greece. The last track "Artefact" is worth the whole album alone. Very talented and touching.
Rival Sons - Feral Roots. Very very good band.
Sarke - Gastwerso. The other project of Nocturno Culto (Darkthrone). Heavy but lighter than the Norwegian cult band, with some soft feminine voices and a more marked progressive side than previous productions.
Candlemass - The Door To Doom. Not as great as I expected, because of the origin of the project originally written for Mats Levén and not for Johan Längqvist whose voice seems to have suffered from time damage. However a solid one.

Special mention to :
Deathspell Omega - Ad Arma ! Ad Arma ! shocking track from their last album " The Furnaces of Palingenesia".

Very interesting list of albums there! I don't even know half of the bands!

I am missing still quite a few albums that would probably make it to my top 10 so I haven't done one...

Avatarium, Visions Of Atlantis, Hollywood Vampires atleast.

But I still think that the #1 album is Sprits Of Fire...that was suberb. The new Dark Element, Grief Collector and Cellar Darling aren't too far behind either. Candlemass would be there too I think.

That list is quite obscure Tyr. Especially 2-11. Don’t really know any of them. Even Devin Townsend at #1 surprises me. In saying that, it wasn’t exactly a memorable or particularly good year for releases.

Rammstein, Overkill, Death Angel, Candlemass, Whitesnake, Flotsam and Jetsam, Sacred Reich and Diamond Head were some of the releases that I thought were pretty decent.

I agree. I enjoyed some of his albums in the earlies 2000. Very surprised too. 96 people voted. I cannot say whether it is representative or not. I would also say that the site seems to be frequented by people wishing to discover something other than systematically most of the famous bands. This certainly explains that.

Some great albums on that but as Jack said a lot of those bands are pretty obscure and I bet more than a few of them will be forgotten though the halls of time. There is also some genuine horshit on there like Blink-182 and Sum 41. Total garbage music by garbage human beings.

That's a very interesting and somewhat obscure list...lots of bands on it I don't even know.

Devin Townsend 's Empath has been a critical success from what I've heard...it's been pretty much praised everywhere...Never listened to his stuff so I can't say one way or another...
