What a song! This has to be one of their most complex compositions ever! There's a lot going on here...what a stellar track! Can't wait for the album! This has album of the year written all over it me thinks...

^^There is a lot going on. Song builds really well in that first minute but then falls a bit flat when the verses kick in and the Keyboards are overpowering the guitar a bit too much for my liking. Can do without the spoken word parts too.

Better than the other song but there’s still something going on with Gillan’s voice though. Too much vocal effects and enhancing going on.

I really can't hear that vocal enhancement at all. Ian sounds just like Ian here...

The spoken bits were adlibbed by Ian over Don's oboe because they felt it needed something...and I think it works pretty well...again adding yet another layer to the already complex song. This is probably one of the most progressive stuff Purple has ever done...

Ian's been multi-tracking his voice since 1985. :)

I really enjoyed the progressive feel of the track. Reminded me of Captain Beyond.

The ecological message... back in the 70s, that was all sci-fi, you better watch out stuff. 50 years later, it's just the daily news... that adds to the chill in the tune.

Obviously his voice is multi-tracked but there’s a lot of reverb and digitising going on also. It actually suits the song but other new song had it as well so it’s gonna be all over the album. He ain’t just singing into a mike and it’s multilayered several times...That’s obvious.

Just wish they'd give the guitars more room. It’s like, somebody shoot the keyboard player.
