I understand the Playing Instruments result.  Guys in a band always seem to have their female followers.  :guitar:  As for the rest of it, who knows.

Back in 2018, a woman named Bryn Spejcher and her new boyfriend Chad O'Milea (sp?) smoked some marijuana out of Chad's bong.

Bryn lost her grip on reality and thought she was trapped in a dimension crease, unable to come back to her life, unless she killed the pseudo-physical apparitions of Chad, her dog, and herself.

Not one to dilly-dally about, Bryn proceeded to stab Chad 108 times. She slashed and stabbed her dog eight times (the crafty canine was able to get away and hide in a place she couldn't easily retrieve him from). She was in the process of stabbing herself in the head/face/neck when police showed up and stopped her. Her dog lived, she lived, Chad did not.

She ended up being charged with involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 100 hours of community service. No jail time, but four years of probation...her defense argued that Bryn had suffered a psychotic break by ingesting the devil's leaf, and the state of California agreed.

I am struck by the realization that I have never heard about anyone who suffered a psychotic break and had voices telling them to do their neighbor's laundry to save the world, or vacuum their own carpet to prevent the demons from devouring their soul. WHY IS THAT?

^^^^^^
Answering your question, the state of California is run by idiots, and has been for quit some time.

This kind of thinking has been occurring more frequently these days.  Hardly nobody is responsible for their actions anymore.  There always seems to be an excuse.

Same problem is present here as well...

It seems that people (and lawyers) have found a nice little loop hole in the law with all those insanity pleas. It's freaking crazy! (pun intented)
People can literally get away with murder now!

And yes California has gone down the deep deep rabbit hole a while ago...I think that's been the case ever since big Arnie left the office.

A possessed soul that's vacuuming to stave off armageddon simply doesn't get headlines. But those folks are out there. The older one gets, the more likely one is to develop a fixation that can't be shaken.

As for the "Twinkie Defense", I don't think it serves us well to go down such roads.

I would read a story about a superhero who's special power is instant deep cleaning carpets of any size or condition.

...

As far as the knife-wielding woman goes, all accounts indicate Bryn is now enjoying her freedom while living her best life.

If this defense had any credibility, then we would hear of others who also suffered a psychotic break by ingesting the devil's leaf and began stabbing people.  But I haven't heard of anybody, sooo . . .

Saw an interesting article today, about something that I never really pay any attention to.  It said that for the first time since 1989, no rap song is in the current top 40.

I always wondered how long it was going to take before that garbage music was gonna start to die.

Looking at the top 40 for this week, I see Michael Jackson's Thriller at #32 - Old School is still the best school! :D

And today I found out that HUNTR/X, which is in at #2, is an animated music group... well, just a natural extension of The Monkees, really...

I am hardly ever surprised when hearing of corruption in my state, but I am a little surprised to hear of this kind of thing going on in Texas.  :o

I find that, on a local level, I am often in agreement with people from many lines of thought and walks of life in finding that there are dumb things going on that shouldn't be going on and that we want them to stop.
