So it was confirmed today that Ozzy has in fact cancelled his Jap/Aus/NZ tour. They are offering ticket holders a $45 merchandise voucher as it's too late to find a suitable headliner. Melbourne's very own Airbourne have also been added to the bill.

That's actually a pretty good compensation I think...it was a festival appearance right? So they could have done...well nothing. Which is usually the case here with festivals if a band cancels.

Yes it's Download festival. I think by law here they have to offer compensation when a headliner or main act cancels. The press release for Ozzy's cancelation stated at the very bottom that ticket holders can also get a refund before Feb 28.

And that is a very good idea, from reading what I've read. One author put it this way, "Sodas are one more thing I wish I didn't do a lot of when I was younger."

That's a little better, but it is my understanding that even sugar free soda is not very good for you.  Carbonated beverages need some type of phosphoric acid to keep them carbonated, and that has been shown to cause health issues over time.  Plus, artificial sweeteners produce some problems as well.

I must confess that the reason I stopped drinking soda years ago was not because I figured at the time it might be bad for me.  I just simple never liked soda all that much.

Well if you go down to the nitty gritty and research enough about everything you'll find out that EVERYTHING is bad for you and EVERYTHING can cause health issues over time.

But the truth is you'd have to drink an awful lot of that stuff a day (I mean like more than a gallon easy) for it to actually cause some real health issues worth mentioning.
HOWEVER that ofcourse is individual as well though...

Sugar sodas are a completely different thing ofcourse..as sugar is bad even in moderate ammounts....and the ammounts aren't all that moderate in sodas either.

Same thing with energy drinks...I only drink the sugar free stuff...and not a lot of that either. A single can of Monster Ultra usually lasts me a whole week. Unless I have to wake up really early then I can drink half a can.

Both diet and regular sodas have their issues, regular more so than diet. Diet sodas on a daily basis can contribute to a higher risk of stroke and type 2 diabetes. I've been a regular drinker of the stuff, now I'm switching to water. I still put flavor into my water, and the flavor has artificial sweetener, but it's not as concentrated as in diet soda, so I figure it's not as bad as the soda option.

Now for my thought of the day...

I'm sick and tired of people being offended by anything and everything.

The Philadelphia Flyers have officially removed the statue of Kate Smith from its location outside their arena and will no longer play Smith's rendition of "God Bless America" at games, the team announced in a statement on Sunday.

This follows the New York Yankees' decision to suspend the use of Smith's rendition of "God Bless America" during the seventh-inning stretch while they investigate an allegation of racism against the late singer.

The New York Daily News reported Thursday there are conflicting claims about Smith's 1939 song "That's Why Darkies Were Born." The song originated in the 1931 Broadway revue "George White's Scandals" and was considered satire, but it includes racist language. It was recorded by Smith and also by Paul Robeson, who was black.

People who get offended too much, offend me.  They are the ones who should be removed from the planet.

Wow, that's just crazy. It's not like we can go back in time and tell performers "OH MY WORD! DON'T PERFORM THAT SONG! IT WILL RUIN YOUR CAREER AFTER YOU ARE DEAD!" This is where we say, "It is what it is..."

Meanwhile, I got this great quote of the day:

''If you don't mind smelling like peanut butter for two or three days, peanut butter is darn good shaving cream.''

—Barry Goldwater

I truly do love that quote, it made me happy to read it. :)
