No I use fertilizers and I do use pesticides (mostly just Pyrethrins though which is a natural pesticide...but last year I had aphids that were immune to pyrethrins so I had to use stronger stuff) have to if you wan't any kind of harvest... But usually just one or two treatments per season is needed...and only on the leaves too not on the fruit...I visit the greenhouse many times a day I usually spot infestation pretty early on so not a lot of pesticide is ever needed.

Here, since January 1st 2019, all products of chemical origin are prohibited for use and storage in non-professional gardens. Only products of organic origin are allowed.
Garden centers therefore offer softer techniques. For weeds, we struggle with any kind of mulching, or hand tools.
I deposited at the municipal dump all the old chemical weed killers, insects killers and others poisons that remained rotting in the back of my garage.

Oh that's pretty harsh... I couldn't imagine that happening here...chemical pesticides are at times the only things that actually work.

I've had good luck with rolling my own stuff at home. Ingredients I've used include cayenne pepper, pure castile liquid soap, cedar oil, tobacco juice, and naphtha.

Cedar chips and sulfur powder are very good for keeping away most bugs, I've found.

A small Greenhouse update:

Cucumbers are growing like crazy...

Some tomatoes are on their way as well...I'm expecting them to start turning red in two weeks or so...

Aaand surprise surprise after the heat wave the greenhouse is now pretty much overtaken by mites..:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetranychus_urticae

Cucumbers are pretty filled with them... I spend an hour there today spraying the leaves first with pesticide and then with water to try and avoid leaf burn...but things aren't looking too good...

And aphids have taken over most of my chilis. So did the same with them...we shall see.

This is another down side of long dry heat periods....this pests breed like rabbits...actually no...they breed about 3000 times faster than rabbits.

Tomatoes are luckily pretty resilient so they are okay but the rest...yikes.

^^^^^^
I thought the point of a greenhouse was to keep out the pests.  :o

Aaaaand the season is over. Just cleared up the Greenhouse after last nights below freezing temps that killed everything.

Had a good season...one of the best actually. A whole heap of tomatoes, lots of cucumbers and plenty of Chilis.

I am going to try to keep 5 chilis alive through the winter...one Habanero, one Birds Eye Baby which I'm gonna try to turn into a bonsai, one Purple UFO and one Oro De Ecuador...I've had bad track record with this though...in the past only ONE plant has ever survived through the winter. Lack of light and pests are the big problems...we shall see...

It's already below freezing in Finland?

High of 27 C / 87 F in Texas to-day.

The UK has had very little rainfall in May. Most areas had less tha 10% of the normal amount, but it makes up for earlier in the year when we had too much!

It's been too much flood or drought here, for sure. I'd prefer things be more leveled out for sure.
