I would like to make this amphibian week.  We will start off with a toad.

During a november evening last year , my dog found a toad in the garden and wanted to catch him with his mouth. Very bad idea! during the 30 minutes that followed my dog started shaking and drooling. I Called the vet and she told us that the next 20 minutes would be decisive: My Jack Russel could either die or survive. Thank god we had the good idea to put Lucky in the shower and rinsed his mouth with water in high doses.
The toad is toxic to dogs. Since then, I have already removed 2 amphibians from my garden and released them in a nearby wood.

Don't want to see your dog come to harm, but, it is beneficial to have toads in your garden.  All they do for a living is eat insects.

Around 12 years ago I was working on the siding of my house.  One day I spotted this little frog on the bar of my scaffolding.  Never figured out how he got up there.

Agreed! Always liked frogs and toads...

A very funny thing happened few years ago... There was a semi tame fox that lived in the neighbourhood and he quite often came to see me when I was walking outside late at night (like I always do) and it had rained and on the road there was a dead toad which was partly run over by a car and the fox smelled it for a while and then licked it and the reaction was priceless.

It looked something like this only much funnier:



The toads around here are slightly poisonous but nothing that would actually hurt...most likely they just taste vile.
