Hey! Why doesn't $BANDNAME have its own section?

It's all a matter of discussion. We started off with the Big Three of Heavy Rock: Sabbath, Purple, and Zeppelin because most of us met on a Black Sabbath board, at least one of us was there because there weren't many good forums up for Deep Purple, and Zeppelin makes three. If there's enough discussion of another band or performer, or we'd like a section carved out for a genre, it's all a matter of generating the traffic and interest.

Basically, if there are enough threads with good activity in here about a band or genre and the people posting in those threads realize that, hey, they could do with their own section, they pretty much just have to ask in this thread and we'll all consider the question. If the band/genre gets its own spot, we'll just move all the threads to the new location and there we go.

Why does this matter? Well, some people like to subscribe to only parts of forums that they're interested in, so this helps to separate signal from noise in that respect.

If we would give Metallica a forum, then we'd need to give Iron Maiden a forum and then we'd need to give Judas Priest a forum and then Megadeth and then Kiss and then Steel Panther and then Kelly Clarkson.

So no. All of these bands can have topics on this section of the board.

Dozy is as big a DP-head as we are Sab-freaks, so that's why they are there. Zeppelin came along so we got "the big three" of early 70's Hard Rock... That was just the way it happened when we created this place.

Back to the thread at hand, if there's enough chatter about Metallica, we'll carve out a space for them. Start with a Metallica thread and if it gets to maybe 3 pages and lots of cross-threads going on within it, we got us a child forum in this category. Grow that enough and we'll need to make a category to handle the other stuff.

I planned on making DP into a big category, even if I'm the only guy posting there, I'll have volumes of stuff to say to myself about them. Zeppelin may have to get demoted if there's not enough traffic there.
