Charger's Wine (and Beer) Club

I don't know...Rosés sure have become more popular...I noticed than in the liquor store the other day when I went to get that...there used to be a very small section of a shelf dedicated to them now there was almost a whole shelf...sadly there was only this one and the one I've had before from the US...but a lot from France, Italy and Spain...some even from hungary! So I do believe they're are getting more popular...and I think it's a good thing...rosés aren't just chick drinks...just cause they're pink doesn't mean men can't have 'em...at it certainly doesn't mean they don't taste good!

They seem to have a versatility about them, and that sounds like something that should be explored instead of fobbed off to some dustbin the wine snobs are in charge of.

So, what Italian wine is up for review?

Hmmm...don't know...
I might pick something up..maybe.

How about Galliano?

You mean the liqueur? Hell to the NO on that stuff!

It was very popular in the USA, back in the 70s.

Because of public demand I did get some Italian red for this wine club... 

Charger's Wine Club.
This time we have a red wine from Italy called Villa Borghetti Valpolicella Classico 2020.

This medium bodied red is a blend of some lesser known grapes, Corvina, Rondinella and Corvione. It has flavours of plums and cherries and has some spice and a hint of vanilla.
There is a slight tang present at first but it soon gives way to a nice smooth almost sweet finish. This is a rather pleasant tasting wine and what's nice about it is that it's not over powered by the tannins.

I was previously unfamiliar with these grapes so I did not know quite what to expect but the wine is actually quite good indeed.

As usual I'll giving this the wine magazine rating from 85 to 95 and I have to give this one a strong 92.

There's nothing overly special about this but it is just a very good and well balanced wine.

Good and balanced sounds like a great combination. How's the value for the price?

Pretty good value I'd say... The bottle was about 13€...so about 15$.. Well worth the price.

Charger's wine club beer edition, the outdoor special!
Being the last warm night of this summer I thought I'd take myself and a beer outside for a review.

This time we have a Ruby ale from Hatherwood craft beer company in London England called The Ruby Rooster.
This dark brown colored ale has flavours of toasted peanuts, some caramel sweetness and some bitter maltiness in the aftertaste.

Overall this is a very nice tasting ale. There is is nice balance between the sweetness and the slight bitterness of the toasted malts, neither overpowers the other.

There is also a nice freshness to the taste but that might just be the extra feel from the outdoor setting. But I could easily imagine having another one while sitting here...too bad I only have this one..

We almost hit 100F today, which is 37.78C. Plenty of warm nights to go here!
