This time we have a Kölsch beer from Cologne Germany called Sünner Kölsch.

Kölsch a beer indigenous to the Köln (Cologne) area in Germany, it is usually a very light amber colored, mildly hoppy beer. That is also the case with the Sünner. But in addition it also has some mild fruitiness with hints of banana, peach and some mild citrus even.

Usually not a big fan of fruity beers but this one is so mild that it just adds slightly to the aroma of the beer instead of overpowering it like is the case with some fruitier beers.
There is a clear sweetness present as well which complements the mild hoppiness quite well. All in all a very well balanced, even if slightly complex beer.

This time we have an Irish Stout from the Rye River Brewing Company in Ireland called The Crafty Brewing Company Irish Stout. I know...what a clever name!

A very dark brown near black in color this stout has flavours of chocolate, coffee and some sweet toffee.
There is no singular taste element that gets overpowering and the sweetness on the background brings it all together very well.

This is a very good basic stout done with Irish precision. Not in the same class as Guinness or Murphy's but if you like stouts you should most certainly give this one a try!

This time we have "A dark and mysterious Spellbinding porter" from Wychwood Brewery in Witney, Oxfordshire UK called Black Wych.

A very dark brown almost black in color the Black Wych has flavours of caramel, hints of nuts and liquorice and some sweetness combined with a robust aftertaste.
As far as Porters go this is among the better ones for sure. There aren't too many things going on taste wise and it's well balanced.

Another thing going for it is the label and the name...BLACK WYCH! How could you NOT love that!?
Did it cast a spell on me? Well...no...but it does taste pretty darn good.

Charger's Wine Club Beer Edition!

This time we have a Helles style German beer called Adlerkönig Urtyp Hell.
A very nice golden yellow in color this lager has a very nice smooth sweet almost honey like flavour with a slightly soft bitter aftertaste. Very well balanced and nice crispy edge to balance out the sweetness.

Helles is a very traditional german beer style and there is no reason to wonder why it is so popular in Germany. This is one of the better lager style beers I've ever had.

Highly recommendable!

What is the contraption on top of the beer bottle? It looks like some kind of infernal mechanism...

I was looking through a Metallica book and I saw James and Kirk drinking this and was inspired to pick up a 4 pack of tall boys.

Wow! I haven't seen or heard that word spoken in decades. They used to run a TV commercial for it and the guy had this Barry White sort of voice and he'd say "Lowenbrau" like he was whispering in his lover's ear or something.

I have never actually had one.

That's the opening mechanism. German's like their beer bottles to have those. It's pretty easy to open and you don't need a bottle opener for it...just flip the switch on the bottom and bam it opens up.

Like the one on this one:

As far as Löwenbräy goes I don't think I've ever had that...need to look it up...Bavarian beer is usually very good.

^^ Love those bottle tops, it obviously adds cost to producing the bottle though which adds to the cost of buying them though.

Attended what I was told was a Gemini party last night but ended up being a birthday celebration for me. Got smashed on Moon Dog and Crown Royal

Crown Royal is an excellent Canadian whiskey. And overall probably one of the best ones in it's price range.

Moon Dog I am assuming is an Aussie lager as I've never seen one....? I have however had the horrid Two Dogs Lemon beer..

Yes Moon Dog is an Australian craft beer brewed in Melbourne, very close to where I live actually. It’s an ok lager, very clean and smooth. Nothing to write home about though.

Agree with Crown Royal. I brought the bottle to the party. One of my favourite Canadian Whiskeys for an affordable price.

I think I need to get some Crown Royal again soon...been a year or two...

Charger's Wine Club Beer Edition!

This time we have a domestic beer from Nokian Panimo in Nokia Finland called Keisari Stout (Emperor Stout).
This black in color stout has flavours of sweet liquorice and coffee and even hints of chocolate.
The taste is bit dry and has some bitter in the aftertaste but is a very nice multilayered stout.

Finland isn't known for it's stouts but Keisari Stout proves that we can do those quite well too.
This isn't near the best stouts I've ever had but it is still a very enjoyable one.
