Listening to Humble Pie's Smokin'. Part of my plan in the H&H album edition was to get more suggestions for stuff to take in, particularly classic albums I may have missed because there wasn't enough time in my youth to listen to everything. I plan to listen well to each album before I start voting on what wins and what loses.

Today I listened to Firepower again, then went on a Savatage kick with a shuffle of Hall of the Mountain King, Gutter Ballet and Streets A Rock Opera

I very much enjoyed their first two albums then they went downhill fast...tried to be all trendy and hip and artsy fartsy...Some good tracks were still found on Steal This Album but I found nothing to enjoy about the stuff that came after.

I love it all but I can see where you are coming from. That being said - it is almost impossible to top Toxicity IMHO, so their inability to do so may very well be what they did that let you down on the later releases.

Quite possibly yes since Toxicity is a masterpiece indeed. But they changed bit too much too after that...
