Fun fact: Balakirev was producing a Russian opera in Prague. When he got there, he was horrified to see the choices made by Smetana, who was conducting and directing the show. Balakirev was convinced that Smetana was in cahoots with Czech sympathizers for Polish freedom and was deliberately sabotaging the Russian work to make it seem heavy-handed and something of a caricature.

Smetana, being Czech, thought the whole thing was incredibly funny and sparred with Balakirev not only for personal and professional pride, but for lolz.

Speaking of Aussie punk (well, punk-ish...punk-lite?...pop music done by little punks?):

Ordered Winning Days by The Vines. From the land down under, should be here in a few weeks at most - I get all of my Australian stuff from Goldmine, and they're always real quick on turn around.

I was looking for The Ultra Violence for a long time but couldn't find it anywhere and then came across this in Amazon and jumped right on it!

It's got The Ultra Violence, Frolic Through The Park and the Live album Fall From Grace as well as some rarities...

The artwork was done by Hugh Gilmour design, the man behind most of the Black Sabbath remasters liner notes! I didn't even know he did art as well!

My CD copy of Anno Domini turned up today.

It was released yesterday AMAZON... why do I pay for Prime if I don't get it on the day of release!!! GRRR!

Anyway I've been out today, I'm busy tomorrow, really looking forward to hearing Forbidden I've seen a lot of positive things online about it. I'm also looking forward to hearing the others as well!

I have recently gone through my collection of cds and found about 200 doubles and about a 150 or so albums I would never ever listen to again and sold them to my local record store
They gave me a great deal somewhere north of 800 dollars for the lot
I still have more than 2000 cds left so I have music for ages
I have not bought any new albums since the last overkill release and I still haven't heard anything from it in fact it is still sealed
