With the temperature in the 80s, an incredibly humid day today.  My gauge says 74% humidity.  That is the highest I have ever seen it when it is not raining.  Doing chores outside this morning felt like I was working in a swamp.

Yeah, it is really rough in the humidity. Body sweats, but it can't evaporate, so you're left being coated with water increasing in temperature. When that hits me, I head to a cold shower and stay inside. I don't need to have heat exhaustion ever again.

Try playing a tennis match in that stuff.  Did it a few times decades ago.  They don't cancel tennis matches because it is too hot or humid.

Indeed. Sports cancellations usually require something moving from the sky to the earth. Stay hydrated!

Unseasonably cold today...temp barely got up to 15C (60F) which isn't normal...quite a gusty northernly wind too.

Summer is drawing to a close here I believe...quite short and quite cold it has been.

5th heatwave of the summer has hit... but it will only last a few days.

Asked the Met Office to send 10C of our temps to Finland... but apparently they can't do that!

33 C feels like 40 C. Hot and humid. Every. Single. Day.

That wet bulb temperature is always worth noting when discussing the air temperature. It's been somewhat dry in Dallas with 30% humidity for the last few days, but the humidity is marching higher over the next few days, so we go from 101F that feels like 104F to 101F that feels like 108-110F.

38.1C near London yesterday, the hottest day of the year. Similar temps today but slightly down.

Been following the European Championships in Birmingham and it's been pretty warm over there too...nothing over the top crazy but above 30C for couple of days.

Runners seem to like those conditions as lots of PBs and national records made!

Massive fire northwest of Dallas-Fort Worth. Shift in the winds is blowing the smoke over the city. Meanwhile, several thousand folks have had to evacuate and schools have canceled classes in advance of likely further evacuation orders.

I'm pretty deep into the urban area of Dallas, so I'm not at risk of anything beyond the smoke. But the rural areas surrounding are all at elevated fire risk levels.

Highs will be 99F or so for the next few days.

Everyone here is talking about how that's a *break* in the heat! Gotta love Texas.

I'll have some days off starting tomorrow, so it will be nice to enjoy the relatively cooler weather.

Highs in the low to mid 80s all week and through the weekend. Lows in the high 60s! So about 20C to 28C. And sunny everyday. Very nice weather around here, and since tonight is going to be a lunar eclipse, am planning on some popcorn and soda out back for a bit.
