Two things from the early days of rock and roll...

Carl was on his way to the top of the charts when he had a car accident that sidelined him long enough for Elvis to take things over.

I used to think that Mr. Perkins's car accident was along the same lines as IBM choosing not to buy Microsoft's OS and just license it: a black and white outcome that would have led to huge success for Carl (and IBM) had things went the other way.

But as time goes on, I don't think that anymore. Carl was a B-lister and always would have been, sans a hit here or there. Elvis's rocket to fame might have been a bit delayed had Carl Perkins not been in that accident, but I think he would have gotten there regardless. He was Elvis the Pelvis, after all. Would have been interesting to see how things played out if Eddie Cochran had not died. I think he would have been Mr. Presley's biggest competition over time.

From their debut album Scream that came out about 1980... possibly my favourite Banshees track.

For my #4 I'll go with an item that just keeps moving forward somewhere no matter what we do...you can stop one but somewhere somehow there is a CLOCK THAT TICKS ON!

Ps. Nothing away from Lulu's song but honestly this one should have been the theme for the movie!

Elvis' talent as a singer was truly remarkable. Whenever I put him side-by-side with another artist doing the same song, he's clearly singing at a championship caliber.
