And Judas Priest is becoming more and more a parody act of themselves...

Now they're going to preform as a four piece band...with a single guitar player...what a joke.
I mean this is supposed to be the band that pretty much invented the dual guitar assault in metal and now it's like a bad cover band who couldn't find (or afford) a second guitar player.
Good lord...I mean sure Andy Sneap didn't fit the band at all but atleast they still had two guitars then....bye bye Judas Priest...Hello Rob and the Priestie boys.

... and it's not like you can just double-track the one lead player. So do they plan to have a backing track in concerts for the second lead?

Yeah...double tracking the rythm is possible (cheating ofcourse but it is atleast doable and doesn't sound completely fake) but leads no way. So the songs will sound very thin and empty.

Seems a strange decision but the band obviously has their reasons. Can only think it’s a cost cutting exercise. Tipton would still be getting a good cut of the touring revenue such is his and Jayne Andrews pull in the band. Accept tried going as a four piece back in the Death Row era and it didn’t really work out. As great as Richie is to handle all the guitar parts I can’t see this working either given the twin guitar attack has always been a big part of Priest.

They’ll most likely use an off stage guitar player or something to fill out the sound, especially behind the solos, much like they did to fill out Tony Iommi’s sound on later tours with Heaven & Hell & Sabbath.

Ah yeah, the backstage player... and he doesn't need any wardrobe or makeup, either.

Well that didn't last long, Priest have done a U-Turn and Andy Sneap will now the 5th member of the group when they restart their tour in March!

Not overly surprising as the fan backlash was pretty big from what I've gathered...even Glenn Tipton's brother said it was a dumb idea to drop the second guitar! :D

It is cool though that they would even listen to their fans at this point.

Backlash was huge, probably a bit over the top tbh. But good to see they came to their senses.

We saw The Charismatic Voices reaction to Painkiller (a few posts before this one). Now we have The Daily Doug's reaction to the same song. Doug Havering is a composer whereas Elizabeth (The Charismatic Voice) is a vocal coach, so they're not looking at this song in quite the same way.

Judas Priest got inducted to the Rock 'n Roll Hall Of Shame last weekend and here's the medley they played with KK and Les Binks!

Yeah...damn that the one who liked to touch little boys died...otherwise I'm sure he would have been behind a third drum kit.
