Yes, a great writer and editor, but a poor human being. RIP

He was a guest of honour at an SF Convention we ran back in 1994. He was a complete dick, fortunately his wife (Susan Toth) was a delight!

What I liked about Harlan Ellison:

The man had tons of good stories about other sci-fi writers. He was so litigious, in fact, that he could say whatever the hell he wanted to say about L. Ron Hubbard and Scientology wouldn't get within 100 feet of the guy.

He settled the Star Trek vs Star Wars debate: Dr. Who. :smug: He even offered to beat up an entire crowd of sci-fi fans to prove his point.

He got fired on his first day on the job at Disney.

He marched at Selma.
