Quality of wins
« on: May 25, 2024, 08:41:33 AM »
I think it's high time that sports stopped with the philosophy "A win is a win, and an ugly win is still a win". There should be a panel of partial, opinionated, real bastards of judges that can rule on the quality of the win and make it count for more or less than it currently counts. Same for losses.

Team at the top of the ladder barely beats a much poorer-quality team? That's not a full win... and not a full loss for that plucky little team showing some spirit.

Total blowout match between teams ranked 1 and 2? Whoever got blown out is a fraud, shouldn't have been ranked that high to start with, we shall adjust...

I plan to work on such a scheme and see how it works for American and Australian Football. If nothing else, it'll get me to look at more stats in the sports.  :smug:
