I remember picking up the Black Science album... and then trying really hard to like it... and then giving up after multiple attempts. I think it was the vocals that really did it in for me, couldn't get into the style of the singer. Had it been an instrumental album, though, I don't know if it would have stood out, either...

Is it just me, or was that album something of a disappointment?

I love Black Science!

Clark Brown is most certainly an acquired taste but I don't mind him at all. Fits the more aggressive style of music well. And he certainly is tons better than the guy who sang on Geezer's first album Burton C Bell...he is truly awful.

Lots of great songs on Black Science...love how they are all one way or another connected to classic sci-fi and mystery themes of the 50s and 60s.

True, I remember I liked the Batman song best of all.

Black Science is my favourite of Geezers solo stuff (I like most of the songs), I think it might be a little more "accesible" than the other two. I've recently given Ohmwork a second chance after dismissing it when it first came and I realise there are some good tracks on it (Misfit and I Believe spring to mind), but on the whole it is still a struggle. I suppose I ought give Plastic Planet another go too, but I just don't like it!

I think I'll go back to Plastic Planet and Black Science and try them both one more time, see how long I last.

Whoa, as I typed this, the guy started singing on Plastic Planet and at 1:09, I was bailing out. I hit pause, so I'll try again, now that I'm braced for it... now it's 1:35 and I'm bailing out again. I'm not getting any younger, so I'll try Black Science again instead...

I'll say this, the vocals aren't nearly as bad if you play them right after Plastic Planet... That "Man in the Suitcase" has some passages reminiscent of "TV Crimes" from Dehumanizer. Interesting.

And I made it to the second song, so it's DEFINITELY better than Plastic Planet. But... ouch... this is not good vocal work on track 2... skipped ahead, same problems for me... I'm just not a fan of Hetfield-style shouting for very long.

Been a while since i've listened to any of these, seem to remember i thought Ohmwork had the best overall quality, but the one song i always go back to visit is Catatonic Eclipse from Plastic Planet. Kinda a nu-metalish riffing going on, but in a good way, and a catchy chorus. Having once been a fan of Fear Factorys Obsolete album it probably helps with Burton C Bells vocals.

Love Plastic Planet with Burton C Bell at his peak . My favourite G//Z/R. An unrecognizable Deen Castronovo kills everything on this surprising '95 album  .
Not really a fan of Clark Brown but Black Science is a good one.

All 3 GZR albums to be re-released in October:

So if you don't have them yet now there is no excuse left not to get them! ;D

I've already got the CDs but there's nothing new (not even the Japanese bonus tracks) so I'll give 'em a miss. But they aren't available in a physical form at the moment so it's good news for those who need it.

I'm thinking about getting the vinyls too...I also have the original cds so I have no need to upgrade them either.

Just seen Geezer post this on Facebook. He's got a new 4CD re-release of the GZR material along with some bonus material including live recordings etc. Manipulation of the Mind comes out 30th July.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Manipulations-Mind-Collection-Geezer-Butler/dp/B096HXNYDZ/ref=sr_1_1?crid=22U73ZHDM2O8F&dchild=1&keywords=geezer+butler+manipulations+of+the+mind&qid=1624455884&s=music&sprefix=manipulation+of+the+%2Caps%2C178&sr=1-1

There's also a single CD Best of coming out the same day.

I like the new font for Geezer Butler. This release reminded me that I needed to pick up the recent back catalogue vinyl releases, which I did this morning.
