Welcome to The Community!


We've made this forum as a group of friends as a place for other friends to come to, and to make that group of friends larger.
The purpose of it is to promote the free exchange of ideas concerning whatever topic any given Community Member would like to discuss, or simply just to hang out talking nonsense when you're bored.
Please feel free to introduce yourself or just jump right into a discussion, we’re happy that you’re here!


Speaking of happy, we're not too into rules, but do have some pointers:

No personal attacks. Attempting to dismantle an argument is fine, attempting to dismantle the person making the argument is not.

No pornography. Showing a picture of Goya’s La Maja Desnuda to facilitate a discussion about art is not pornography. Images from Henry Paris’s The Opening of Misty Beethoven is pornography.

No divisive language. What is that you ask? Words like (   ), (   ), and (   ) for example. You should know...

No gratuitous gore.  Carcass' Reek of Putrefaction is not gratuitous gore. An image from Best Gore is.

Basically, this is a place where everybody should enjoy themselves. We appreciate dry and quasi-snidy sence of humor, but be considerate about it.

Intention is everything. Well meaning discussion, heated arguments, unreasonable silliness...these are all acceptable. Hateful mean-spiritedness, trolling, tactics used to intentionally disrupt threads are examples of behavior that is not acceptable.
One topic often lead to another, so derailing a thread a bit isn't the worst thing. If it gets into whole new territories we or you will have to make a new thread about it.

If you moderate yourself, the moderators gets less to deal wih.

We reserve the right to add or remove rules as deemed necessary. Additionally, board moderators may delete, edit, or otherwise modify your posts at their discretion. The content of each post on this message board is owned by, and the responsibility therein lies, with the person who made the post. We have a moderation system in place to ensure that the spirit and integrity of the message board remains consistent with its stated purpose.


Finally, The Community is a message board oriented towards adults. There will be content and discussions that are not suitable for children, therefore you must be 14 years of age or older to hold an account here.

Some more guidance... if you're getting angry because you're trying to convince someone else about your view and that person simply won't accept it, then stop.

If you're getting angry because someone else on the board is saying/doing something that makes you angry, before you respond in the open, consider a PM or asking a moderator to review the other person's activity.

If there's something happening in the world that makes you mad and then someone else on the forum supports that action, it's clear that you are both going to disagree. Therefore, don't try to convince each other about how right you are and don't say or do things to make the other person angry. *DO* feel free to post data that you believe supports your position, but be ready to respond to the other person's data... or the other person's decision to not consider your data relevant. Such is the world we all live in.

If you're in a part of the board that is for discussing things like music or games or sport or literature, maybe those aren't the right places to bring up politics and/or religion and/or sensitive subjects, unless they are directly related to the topic, IE, a patriotic song, protests at sports events, or a book about religion. If you do bring up one of those sensitive subjects, be ready to accept that others will argue with you and that you have zero rights to try to make them shut up, or even understand you.
