Favorite non-DP Album with a DP member playing on it

Inspired by Charger's recent thread...

I'll start with Rainbow Rising. To me, it's hands down, one of the finest rock albums ever made.

For my second and third places, it's Tommy Bolin's Teaser and Private Eyes, pretty much tied. Loads of fun, great songs, lots of different textures and styles, and some guitar work that will melt your brain as effectively as Blackmore or Iommi.

For me Long Live Rock 'n' Roll and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow are interchangeable as my favourite with Rising third. I actually like all three Dio era Rainbow albums over anything Deep Purple released.

Impossible to disagree with this.

Rainbow Rising it has to be.

Then Long Live Rock 'n Roll and Rainbow

After that Gillan's Magic.

Ooch, that's where I part ways with you. To me, the Gillan albums with Jannick Gers just aren't up to the standard Bernie Torme set, especially on Glory Road. Sounds like we need a Gillan thread to argue on...

I would have loved to agree with that the best Gillan albums must be logically with the great Bernie Tormé , but the fact is that Magic is probably the best of Gillan band, Mr Universe follows very closely for second place.

I know that Glenn Hughes is not everyone's cup of tea, but his Burning Japan Live set is some incredible work, great versions of DP Mk3 material along with his own work.

And I LOVE his albums with Tony Iommi - aside from the problem child, Seventh Star. "Gone" is an awesome heavy rocker.

so true . Burning Japan is amazing with this Europe Backing band . Guitars solos on You Keep on Moving version are stellar .
