I don't drink alcohol. When the executives order a round of drinks, I have a Diet Coke. Hasn't been a problem yet.

When I was in India and said I didn't drink tea, I got some funny looks and a fun little discussion about that choice, and then I had a Thums Up cola.

I was offered a bottle of champagne by some very generous hosts in Russia, but declined it as graciously as I could. I hinted I liked chocolate and the hosts gladly provided some of that.

Again, if it was a medical condition that kept her from shaking hands, I would think that people would be able to respect that and just move on. True, there are ways to handle it...

RIGHT: "I'm sorry, sir, in my culture, we depart with this gesture. Please accept my apologies and kind regards."

WRONG: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! A HAND!!!!! INFIDEL UNCLEAN!!! MAY GOD STRIKE YOU DEAD WHERE YOU STAND!!!"

If she did something like the first, that should have been fine. If she did something like the second, yeah, cut losses on this one.

Which reminds me, there's a Norwegian show, "Nobel" available on Netflix. Is it any good? I'm wanting to check it out, looks interesting.

^^^ Yeah, it's pretty decent. It was good enough that despite not being able to handle the main actor Aksel Hennie any longer (for two reasons, he's the most overused actor in Norway the last 15 years, and he's a douche), i still was able to watch the whole series.
