GIBSON in danger of going bankrupt!

Just saw this...

https://www.musicradar.com/news/gibson-reports-company-is-running-out-of-time-rapidly-to-resolve-debt-issues-says-financial-expert

Very sad news...we are talking about one of the most iconic guitar manufacturers here...hell without Gibson heavy metal would have a very different tone...

I don't know how you mismanage a company with the kind of brand cache Gibson has to the point of teetering on bankruptcy. I hope they can get it worked out.

Very sad indeed. This also probably means that the price for a Gibson will either plummet or skyrocket. Probably the first for new ones while they're still available, then the second when the only way to get a Gibson will be second hand. And how will it affect Epiphone?
But, yeah, it's puzzeling how such a brand can be so badly managed. It's like the city of Paris had said they need to demolish the Eiffel tower because they need parking lots...

Just bought a Les Paul yesterday. Beast of a guitar! This is surely one of the signs of the apocalypse.

Les Paul is on the list, but first off is a good SG. Then i might go for a Jaguar to go a bit Fenderish before i go full on with Les Paul.

I nearly bought an SG instead, the thing had ridiculous sustain, but it was 400 dollars more and I'm not a fan of 24 fret necks. Makes it likely I'd mess up when I play in unconscious mode. But SG next for sure.

I think that SGs are more versatile, but LPs do have a richer sound. You can hear the weight of the guitar in the sound, so they most def. are fitting for the heavier stuff.

Great article, talks about woes at Fender and Guitar Center as well. These guys all leveraged up to buy an expanding share of a contracting market. But the innovators are still out there, in different firms. Want a Gibson? Buy a Heritage.

Point taken about most guitar stores being in parts of town where the security makes them little better than specialized pawn shops. But this is not looking at customer trends heading in different directions where a brand like Gibson or Fender doesn't mean anything.
