The B-52s are one of those bands I have to be in the mood in order to enjoy them. I think that whole southern USA alt-rock thing just never really did it for me in general. I feel similarly about REM and Drivin' and Cryin'.

B-52s were better than those other bands because they never took themselves seriously. They were in it to have fun and get out before bringing any drama onstage.

The death of their guitarist Ricky Wilson in 1985 was a big blow.  He was the brother of the band member Cindy Wilson.

Back to the list, Aerosmith is another where I have all their pre-reunion stuff up to Draw the Line. That one wasn't so great, and I passed on the next two albums. Permanent Vacation I got because I was doing record reviews at the college paper and got a promo copy. It was all right, I remember, but not good enough to make me want to buy stuff after that.
