Sample track "The Witching Chamber" is available for a listen, I've already pre-ordered the album.  May 6 will be a day I look very much forward to, as I can get the rest of the tracks then.

The song starts out heavy and bluesy and slow, converting to a steady rock beat for a sweet guitar jam about half way through. With 2 minutes to go, they step up the pace a notch for a faster jam that doesn't forget how to rock out. Keeps one's attention without confusing the listener, always a good thing!

It's released and I'm jamming to it now.

The songs generally are mid-tempo to slightly slow, so it's got a doomier feel than earlier releases, but the songs are also long enough to include a fast jam break. It's a great set of tunes, especially if you're looking to wind down at the end of the day without getting too mellow. There's less complexity in the compositions than we got in Senjutsu, so the longer tracks are definitely digestible and easily followed. It's blues-based heavy rock and the jams are totally reminiscent of the best on-stage jamming from Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. It's like a musical steak and cheese sandwich - heavy, filling, and satisfying.

Is it as good as Tony Martin's Thorns? Nope. Would it be my album of the year if Tony Martin had released his album last year? So far, yep. This is slotting in on #2 on my 2022 AOTY list, with Marlboro Men's recent release at #3.
