Oh...great one! It's been probably 30 years since I've seen that movie! Too bad it's not on any of my streaming services I would have watched it tonight!!

If KDC got away with a trilogy I'll do the same!

#2

THE DOLLAR TRILOGY by ENNIO MORRICONE!

The score on these movies is probably among the best ever made! It's like the music itself is telling a story.

Fistful Of Dollars, For Few Dollars More and The Good The Bad And The Ugly all have so iconic themes that it's kind of hard to pick one...I think for another top 10 I chose For Few Dollars More so I'll go with Fistful Of Dollars this time!

Bleeding Steel

In near future a police officer is nearly killed when facing off a Bioroid, a man with a mechanical heart and superior healing abilities while trying to protect the inventor of the technology. 15 years later he tries to protect his daughter who begins to have strange dreams about her past.

A rather strange Hong Kong action movie starring the one and only Jackie Chan.

The plot is bit all over the place and it's bit hard to follow but Jackie still does a great job with the fight scenes that are as good as anything he did 20 years ago.

I think this tries to ride the Marvel movie wave but doesn't really catch it. It's a fun little movie but nothing more.

That is a great score for sure! And I was thinking about it but I knew your love for the movies and thought you'd be choosing it!

I'd say it is. Most certainly not something you'd drink out of the bottle with a half a pint single gulp!

I'll try tonight with an ice cube to see if it mellows it out a bit.

Well well well...

First one for me...

SOUTH AFRICAN Single Grain Whisky!!!

Bain's Aged 15 Years Single Grain Whisky.

52.5% that's 105 proof! But it's still rather smooth. Not as smooth as the Yellowstone from the previous entry but still surprsingly smooth considering.
The first nose has a distinct Bourbon odour to it which is no surprise as this is aged 10 years in American Oak bourbon casks. But flavour wise this is closer to Scottish Single Grain whisky's. But not quite...
Honestly if I'd be forced to have this in a blind test I wouldn't know what the heck I was drinking! This is a very unique blend of flavours here.

But I'm kind of digging it. Most certainly worth the 69.95€ for the 1 litre bottle.

This might even benfit from an ice cube or two, which I might try tomorrow.

TAKEN TRILOGY

In the First part former black ops operative Bryan Mills finds his daughter Kim being kidnapped by some Albanian human trafficers in Paris and he uses his skills to track the kindappers down and kill them all in order to save his daughter.

Something of a modern action classic. A movie that somewhat redifined how action movies were done...or more accurately remined how they were done. As this one has a very strong 80s feel to it and this also made Liam Neeson a big star after being stuck in a rut of supporting roles.

The movie is as relentless as Mills' desire to find his daughter. There is not a single slow moment once things get going. And that's the way a proper action movie needs to be. Neeson shines in the lead as does Maggie Grace as Kim and Famke Janssen as her mother.

Running time is also a return to form in just over 80 minutes which is more than enough when the speed at max. Could have potentially been bit more brutal but in the end that's a minor gripe.

In Part 2 Mills, his ex wife Lenore and daughter Kim are on vacation in Istambul when the family of the Albanian gangsters come after them and manage to kidnap Bryan and Lenore. This time the tables are turned and Kim has to help his dad to get away from the kidnappers and end the threat once and for all.

This one doesn't quite have the same drive as the first one and suffers bit from, dare I say it...lack of action.
Neeson, Janssen and Grace all do great jobs again but Rade Šerbedžija as the Albanian mobster boss is brilliant. A man driven by vengeance alone.

The movie suffers grately from the PG-13 rating edit. And as such is the weakest one of the trilogy. But the 80+ minute running time is again working in it's favour and manages to keep the entertainment level high enough

In the 3rd part Mills is framed for the murder of his ex wife Lenore and has to go on the run in order to find out what really happened and who is responsible. At the same time being hunted by a very determined cop.

The story line is bravely different enough from the first two and is a bit darker in tone with the thing taken is Lenore's life.

Neeson again finds a new gear and the movie rolls on with blistering speed. Forest Whitaker as the relentless cop is like a soul mate of Mills. Maggie Grace again shines as Kim and Bryan's old team mates have a bit bigger role in this one as well lead by the always brilliant Leland Orser

This one has a running time of 1h45minutes which is by far the longest of them all and you can notice it, but it doesn't feel too long though and the plot as few more twists and turns than the previous two combined. And this one having a proper R-rating helps a lot as well.

Good ending to a great action trilogy. First part is the stone cold classic though and the one that most modern day action directors and writers should take lessons from.

So scores not themes!

Okay! That made things bit harder to be honest.

But I'm still gonna kick things off with an easy one here...although if I'd be doing this in order this might be number one on the list.

STAR WARS

Ofcourse the title theme is iconic on it's own but the whole score for the movie (or the whole series for that matter!!) is absolutely suberb. There are some really awesome little subtle parts that just almost fly by without you even noticing them but you'd sure as hell would notice if they were missing.

John Williams is without a doubt one of the greatest composers of our time...if not THE greatest.

I'm not gonna pick the theme for this one but I am gonna pick the March!
