The Ozzy Years / Re: Earth - The Legendary Lost Tapes (released by Jim Simpson) available digitally
« on: November 27, 2025, 01:33:51 PM »
I preordered this 6 months ago and was cancelled by Amazon just the other day. Make no mistake, Tony is a big reason why this is being held up or won’t be released at all. It’s just Sharon is having to do the dirty work out front and take any heat for it.

If Tony doesn’t want these released I’m ok with it. I mean it’s his work after all.

All Other Eras / Re: Black Sabbath with DAVE WALKER
« on: November 27, 2025, 01:28:36 PM »
To me, the Dave Walker version only highlighted how great Ozzy was with melody and exactly what his strengths were and what he brought to the table in Sabbath and everything else. This version is ok but the album version is far far superior.

General Discussion / Re: Ozzy Osbourne - In Memoriam (1948-2025)
« on: July 23, 2025, 07:52:09 AM »
First of all, I wanna apologise to to you all for my long absence. I had my reasons which I won’t go into now but I promised myself that I would come back if one of our beloved Black Sabbath band members died. Because of that deep Sabbath connection I have with you guys and the reason we all hooked up to begin with. Black Sabbath. I ended up breaking that promise a few weeks ago out of excitement for the then approaching Back to the Beginning farewell concert, but here I am again for the reason I wish I didn’t have to be here for.

Ozzy shaped my musical journey from an early teen and is the reason I fell in love with heavy metal. From his mesmerising & emotive voice, captivating vocal melodies, dark persona and crazy on and off stage antics he was the artist, singer & performer I connected with more than any other. Getting to meet him backstage with my wife in 2013 before he took the stage with his Black Sabbath band mates is the biggest pinch me moment I’ve ever experienced and will live with me forever. He was funny, entertaining, and very personable, and filled the room with an aura like I’ve never felt before or since. He was as genuine a musical hero/legend as you’ll ever meet.
It’s so hard to accept he is gone. It was only just over 2 weeks ago I spent 10 hours straight from midnight to 10am watching a pay for view stream from Villa Park, Aston, with my son as a cavalcade of legendary metal bands and artist celebrated him and Black Sabbath before he took to the stage one last time giving his heart & soul like he always did, performing a short set of solo songs before finishing the concert with his Black Sabbath brothers. It was ultimate way to go out for the ultimate entertainer.

Thank you, Ozzy, for the unforgettable music, the joy, the memories, your craziness, and for sometimes getting me through tough times. Love you forever!

Peace and love to you all and again, sorry for my long absence

The Ozzy Years / Re: One Final Show - 5th July 2025 - Villa Park

Jake confirmed on his socials this evening that he’ll be performing The Ultimate Sin
and Shot in the Dark in a supergroup. He did mention a few weeks back that Bark at the Moon might be too challenging for him to play these days with his hand issues and he’d see how he went with it in rehearsals. Unfortunately it seems it didn’t make the cut, unless he’s going to perform it with Ozzy.

Hi Jack, hope you're keeping well.

I always had a feeling it would be a celebration of Sabbath, with the bonus that the original 4 would perform together one last time. I've been hearing it'll be 5 songs, but I'm not sure where I heard that and may not have been an official source. I suspect that might have been someone being optimistic.

In the UK the show's had more tv/press coverage than the Oasis reunion tour which starts tonight!
Thanks Kilo, been well, hope you have been as well. Tony has confirmed they’ll be performing 4 songs. The obvious ones would be War Pigs, Black Sabbath, Iron Man and Paranoid.

Metallica played Hole in the Sky at Sabbaths RRHOF induction so not surprised by that but was thinking they might've played something else as HITS or Sabbra Cadabra/A National Acrobat might’ve been too obvious. Am hoping Jake at least gets to jam one song with Ozzy but am thinking he might be more part of a supergroup performing several songs.

Awesome to know you’re still following the Cats Z. They’re having another good season. Dropped a couple against lower sides but have a great record against top 8 teams. I think they’re the only team that can beat Collingwood and Collingwood knows that. Maybe the Dogs could trouble the pies as well. So far 3 blowouts this round so we’ll see what happens. Hope the cats demolish the tigers tomorrow. Percentage is gonna play a big part come the end of the H&A season and the ladder being so tight.

The concert is 10 hours long. Any real Sabbath fan knew Ozzy and Bill wouldn’t be able to perform full sets. Ozzy will do 4 solo songs and 4 Sabbath songs. Just to see them all perform together one last time in their hometown at their age will be special. Looking forward to the whole concert and other bands paying tribute to Sabbath. Especially looking forward to seeing Jake E. Lee perform. Metallica were heard rehearsing Hole in the Sky at Villa Park yesterday and GNR were heard rehearsing Sabbath Bloody Sabbath at a soundcheck at one of their concerts a few days ago which would mean Anthrax might play something else. A lot of speculation and hype about who’ll be playing what and what other special guests will play that have been kept under wraps.

So we all connected originally because of our love for Black Sabbath, and it’s the reason why I’m here now. I have ordered my streaming ticket and are beyond psyched that I have to just tell someone that gets it  Happy Back to the Beginning everyone. Only one more sleep.

I hope it’s a magical concert and the Sabbs can go out on a high like it should’ve been with Ozzy, Tony, Geezer and friggin Bill Ward. All the best everyone  :pub:

All Them Other Guys / Re: Ballads...Love 'em or Hate 'em?

That's a nice story Vyn! Good music attracts good people.

Regarding Ozzy...the problem I've always had was bit of a two sider....A: most of Ozzy's ballads are extemely general and basic, ballads by the numbers type of songs.... and B: Ozzy's monotone delivery doesn't exactly scream emotion now does it...

Out of Ozzy's catalogue I would probably raise out 3 ballads that aren't bad. Goodbye To Romance, Road To Nowhere and although being very very very very cheesy, Mama I'm Coming Home which is probably his best vocal preformance on a ballad eventhough the lyrics are rather silly.

Ballads are very tricky songs...one might say that 9 out of 10 ballads are overly cheesy and actually lack the emotion they are trying to convey. Also the fact that some singers have emotion in their voice and others simply don't. And yes that is also I believe a subjective view...others might find emotion in something other's don't.

I've always found it odd why certain bands think that it's an absolute must to have a ballad on each album...as more often than not it just ends up being a skip-a-doo song.
I agree that some of Ozzy’s ballads are overly sappy but he is definitely not a monotone singer. Whilst you may not like She’s Gone for its sappiness that song is very heartfelt and dripping with emotion. Where’s to me, Blaze Bayley is the very definition of a monotone singer, which is why I never liked him in Maiden, where’s Ripper isn’t a monotone singer but it’s his bland vocal melodies that don’t do it for me. Besides a couple of songs from Demolition, nothing sticks or is hooky enough to remember or make you wanna singalong to him.

There’s a good reason why none of the neighbouring Arab countries are letting any Palestinians in. That’s because they’re nothing but trouble.

Been quite shocked with the amount of protests around the world against Israel. Not so much shocked at Arabs protesting in western countries because we know they have a long intense hatred for the Jews but more Western people protesting in their own country. Are they just activist that are on the side of the people with the darker skin or is there something more deep-seated going on?

Photos like this sum up the stupidity and absurdity of some of it

I really like Forever by KISS and I love Mama I'm Coming Home by Ozzy
Good shout with those two Thel, personally I think “I Still Love You” from Creatures of the Night is not only Kiss’s best ballad but one of the very best ballads from the genre. And Mama is one of Ozzy’s best for sure. He has one of the most emotive voices out there when it comes to ballads, how anyone can think otherwise or think he’s not suited to ballads is honestly beyond me.

I think they’ve won a couple of games they would’ve dropped in recent years. As for the Liverpool game. Teams can be a lot harder to break down when they go a man down or even two. Especially a team as well drilled as Liverpool. They pretty much had every player in their own penalty box giving Spurs no room to create a goal and blocking every shot they got off. Hence the own goal at the end.
