I'm really not a fan of tennis, but like almost every sport I do like to see a Brit doing well.
On that note, it's great to see Emma Raducanu, the 18 year old rookie win her quarter-final at the US Open, only her second grand slam event after getting to round 3 at Wimbledon (retired ill in the 4th round). She's just beaten the Olympic champion Bencic in straight sets... she's not dropped a set yet in the 8 matches she's played... including the 3 qualifying games!
Not expecting her to win the title, but it would be nice! :)

So now Raducanu is into the final against the unseeded 19 year old Canadian Laylah Fernandez who is herself only ranked 73!
She's the first qualifier to reach a grand slam final and the first British woman to reach a grand slam final since 1977!
-
Wow, that's good for the both of them!

 I'd guess Virginia Wade?

Yes Wade won Wimbledon in 1977. What I didn't know until yesterday was that she also won the US Open in 1968 and the Australian Open in 73! I thought she had only won Wimbledon.

Well there you go... she won!! A qualifier, didn't lose a set and looked so assured!
Fernandez wasn't a bad opponent and I think we'll see more from her in the years to come.

Saw that in the news, thought "good for her!" That's a great story, there.
