ROFL I was always taught that a clean vacuum helps prevent decay.

Wow, when I was a kid my mom had an Electrolux like that.  Note the rod/feet used to slide along carpets.

Yeah, and then catch on carpet edges if they weren't wall-to-wall! But they were much lighter than the big Hoover units.
