Short version: Instead of hitting every 2.5 billion years, the kind of asteroid that triggered the Cretaceous-Paleogene mass extinction event is now calculated to hit the Earth once every 250 million years.
So there goes all my vacation plans for my 500 millionth wedding anniversary... bummer... I was planning something really special, like a diving trip where California used to be or something cool like that.
