... and this came just after gasoline got hacked. The fact that Russia will say one thing but do the other is a huge warning to the rest of the world. Russia will not stop criminals based on its soil from robbing the rest of the world. No extradition, investigation, or cooperation with law enforcement. That means many more disruptions like this are in our future, as far too many businesses think that all they have to do for security is to lock the doors at night.

China and Russia are the two biggest hacker hotspots nowadays. Massive ammount of attacks everywhere in the west there...against companies, governments and civilians alike.
Even if they aren't directly working for their governments neither Russia or China is doing fuck all to stop it. And it also goes high up too...especially in China with large corporations using their softwares and hardwares to spy on people.
But ofcourse spying is the least (which is saying something) of the worries we have from them...the blackmails the ransomwares the cyber attacks...it's crazy.
But that is modern warfare now...the majority of the battles aren't fought on battlefields anymore...they are fought in the internet.

That's a fact.

I'd go so far as to say that the observation happens first and longest and the ransomware can be a grenade to detonate and blow out all the evidence, should it look likely they're going to be discovered... or if Russia/China/Iran wants to send a message or retaliate for something else.
