So, I was reading the wiki article about 13 and it mentioned that Bill Ward was edited out of all the pictures at https://www.blacksabbath.com/ after his dispute over what was a "signable contract." I did not know that that had happened, so I went to go and see.
Damn if there's no Bill Ward in ANY photo on the site. The guy has been edited out of the official history, as it were. Maybe I'm getting the news late in the day, but I'm still shocked to see such a complete re-edit of their history...

My understanding is it was Bill's request to be edited out, so that people didn't get confused with who was currently in the band and on the 13 album. I guess after 7 years he could be re-instated!

KDC's take is what I heard as well.
Initially fans lost their collective shit, but then a statement came out from one of the band members - indicating that Bill had requested the editing.

OK, well, that's a better ending to the story than a big F U from some management guy or a legal thing. Phew!

Bit of a bump, but it was indeed Bill's request. They were selling at least one shirt on 'The End' tour that had a classic photo of all four originals. So, they either worked out some kind of deal or (I suspect this one more) the dispute was related solely to the website and merchandising was a different agreement.

Yeah it seems Bill wanted his image removed from any photos on the website but was happy to have his image used for any merchandise sold on their. Don’t recall seeing his image used for tour merchandise though.
I personally love the vintage photos of Sabbath they use for merchandise, much prefer them than skulls and crosses and the like.

They had a tour shirt that had a vintage band photo and the logo from the first album. My old man got one, next time I see him I'll snag a photo of it. Agreed, the vintage aesthetic suits them much better IMO.
