Just watched the highlights reel of the Cats' performance in the 2011 premiership. Wow, that Hawkins was awesome to watch!

Helps to know about the game:

Read over the rules and history, went to the highlights reel, everything made sense. I'm ready for the 2021 season!

Now, question: how does one view AFL in the USA? I got curling figured out, they post every match to YouTube shortly after it happens.

That 2011 premiership was the best. If their is one team everyone loves to beat its Collingwood. They’re one of the biggest sporting clubs in Australia but also the most hated. They’re like the Raiders of the AFL. Same type of feral fans as well.

Hawkins is still playing btw. Turned 32 this season and won the Coleman medal which s awarded to the highest individual goal kicker in the league for the season. We are also getting Jeremy Cameron from Greater Western Sydney via free agency who won the previous 2 Coleman medals. Hawkins and Cameron are going form a formidable duo in 2021.

We also held our best & fairest player award for Geelong last night which usually a big gala affair but in keeping with the weirdness of the year with Covid restrictions was held via zoom.

Our coach Chris Scott who holds an unbelievable 73% winning percentage as coach over the 10 years he’s been at the club( the greatest winning percentage in the history of the AFL) gave quite an emotional speech.

Like a lot of Geelong fans he’s struggled to leave the bedroom since the GF loss  :'(

Thanks for starting this thread Z  ;)

You can also get an AFL pass like the NFL pass.

Saints played well against the Carlton Blues, took a lead and kept it going throughout. Carlton pulled close in the 4th quarter, but St. Kilda stayed strong. I understand that Carlton didn't have their starting forwards in play, so I'd expect more spiciness when they're on the field.

Just preseason or tune up games at the moment. Usually they’d play about 3 games but different circumstances this year due to Covid etc so each team will play only one, hence most teams are playing very strong lineups. Geelong play Essendon later this evening and will be pretty much at full strength. Geelong will play its 3 mature age boom recruits Cameron, Higgins and Isaac Smith.

It’s all chips in for Geelong this season.

Well, I'll be catching the highlights of the game when the AFL posts them!

Should we add a forum rule that we officially support the Geelong Cats? :)

Watching other highlights... West Coast did a nice come from behind over Fremantle, but the physio chaps seemed to have the most action in that match... Port Adelaide smashes the youngsters on Adelaide... Giants stomped on the Swans in the first half, but the Swans' comeback came up short, hard luck for Sydney... Hawks opened up strong in the first quarter, kept up the pace throughout, handily defeating the North Melbourne Kanagroos... and it was the Richmond Tigers over Collingwood Magpies in a narrow match. Back to you in the studio, Jack!

Brisbane Lions really turned it around vs the Suns... totally different team in that last quarter than in the first 3. Well done, Brisbane!
