Anyone here going to get either of these new consoles?? I have been saving up for the PS5, and I am so looking forward to getting one. I also will eventually get a Xbox Series X. The whole thing has been a retail nightmare for both Sony and Microsoft what with Covid and the incredible preorder amounts they have received. They totally did not expect the massive demand and both have sold out in short time all over the world.
-
Preorders sold out very quick here and I missed out on getting one for my son. The next batch of preorders won’t be available to pick up until late January now apparently.
Thankfully, my dodgy brother in law preordered 5 to sell for profit and has promised me one.
We’ll wait and see whether he comes through and stays good to his word though.
-
Nah. Too expensive for me...plus it'll take some time before any good games come out on it anyways so there really is no point in buying it right away.
I'll be giving it atleast a year and see if the price comes down...and what the new Battlefield is going to look like...granted based on the last two BFs my hopes aren't that high..
-
Me and my kids are pretty much PC gamers, but my kids also use the Nintendo Switch as their console.
My wife sews, I can tell you all about her latest sewing machine, if you'd like. :D
-
Well I have the money saved up for the PS5 and almost enough for the Xbox Series X. I have been trying all morning various online Canadian retailers and not one of them has the PS5 except Amazon from third parties who want 1500+. I can wait and it looks like I will have to anyway :zomg:
-
I missed out too Thel. Missed the first presale a few months back then they had another one yesterday for all the major retailers(online only) for Dec 8 delivery and it sold out in 10 minutes. Dam scalpers are buying them all up to resell, the pricks!
-
Yeah these scalpers suck!!! You think Sony and Microsoft would be able to come up with some kind of system to circumvent them. No way I am paying three times the price for either system.
-
^ Even with a one-per-customer policy, there's nothing to stop someone from creating multiple accounts to purchase that one and have it shipped to a drop site pickup so that there's no correlation with addresses. Probably have to wait a few months to the better part of a year to have a shot of actually offering retail and getting a unit.

Just bought a Xbox One X to tide me over until the new Series X is more readily available. Previously known as the worlds most powerful console the performance of the newer games on this system is simply incredible. Also as I mentioned in the WAYP thread I just bought a high end gaming monitor mostly for the new console when I can buy that.
-
:jimi: Awesome - I just bought a Xbox Series S!! Somehow I was able to get one directly from Microsoft on the Xbox store.
I would have preferred a Xbox Series X but I used the difference in price to also buy a Elite Controller Series 2 and some good headphones.
I will report back once I have it all set up. :excited: :zomg:

I see lots of pew pew pew in your future. :D
-
 definitely!!! And also some serious fun with Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Motorsport 7!!
-
So I was finally able to get an Xbox Series X and also just bought a 4K monitor to compliment it.
These are my Bday presents to myself.
I must say that I have had some issues with my Series S and even had to send it in to Microsoft for repair. Still, the S satiated my need for the next-gen experience. I am optimistic that I will have a more user-friendly experience with the Series X.
I am currently wrestling with myself over whether or not to get a PS5. I want one but I have spent a small fortune in the last few days with my Xbox setup. A PS5 would be another 700 Canadian dollars. I kind of feel like I cannot validate spending that much on gaming, especially with everything going up in price.
-
I'm not sure PS5 is worth it especially since you got the Xbox...
I still haven't even entertained the idea of buys ps5...one ofcourse they're still crazy difficult to get and they cost a fortune...and there just aren't that many good games out there yet either...
Modern Warfare 2 comes out in October but I think I'll be getting the PS4 version of it too....
-
You are right - I do not need the PS5, though it is tempting. I also have been buying PS4 versions of new releases, so I got that covered.
-
:-\ Still have not set up my new TV and Xbox. I am waiting on a stronger pane of tempered glass for my desk that I do my gaming on. A little worried that the current setup will not be strong enough to hold the extra weight of the new TV/Monitor.
But as you happened to mention Charger that there is a definite lack of new games. I am still playing Xbox One versions of games even on my Series S. Game pass is keeping me occupied and I have played a ton of Forza Horizon 5 on the Xbox through the service.
-
I have not turned my new Xbox on in 3 months. WTF are Microsoft doing, they have not given me any reason to move away from my older Xbox One
I am patiently awaiting for something to play
Did I waste my money? I still have faith that Microsoft will wake up and start getting some games worth playing.
-
I'm still with my PS4! :D
Nothing of interest in the gaming world since BF 2042... I should get the Modern Warfare II but it hasn't been on sale here yet...
-
Why I love my PC. :D
-
I bought a Playstation 5 on black Friday and it was 130 dollars off.
I am late in getting this but I am looking forward to playing some real games as my Xbox is still a disappointment 😞
I love my Xbox but it really doesn't have many good games and Microsoft has really pissed me off with the Gamepass price increase
-
^^^
You won't be happy about Playstation Plus then either....they've increased the price of that virtually every year and it is about to go up again next year... >:(
I was thinking about PS5 during the Black Friday sales but decided against it...
369€ for the console and about 105€ for the mouse control unit and then rebuying all the games...it would have been too expensive...
I think once the price droppes below 300€ then I'll be buying it!
-
I noticed that the price has changed since I last bought the subscription on my Playstation 4 pro
That was about a year ago now and I also noticed that they have stopped giving you monthly games for free
Video games are so expensive now and with everything else going up in price the industry is not sustainable
This will be the last generation that I will be buying a Xbox and maybe the last Playstation as well 🤔
Unless they get their shit together I will be playing with the systems I have now and all the back log of games I need to experience
-
Thanks to AI, a number of component prices are going up, especially for RAM.
-
Yes RAM is becoming increasingly difficult to afford with all the AI demands
I hear that many of the big tech companies are buying up massive quantities of RAM
I also remember hearing that SSD hard drives are expected to increase in price dramatically in the future
-
I just bought a new 1TB M2 SSD drive and it wasn't crazy expensive...129€ Which is about 15€ more than it was couple of years ago.
RAM has gotten way more expensive though...
-
It was video cards a few years back and now it's RAM... I'm *still* waiting for prices all around on PC components to drop!
-
I don't think Video cards have come down a whole lot either yet...but their availablity is now better.
Pretty much every single computer component has gone up in price rather than down...which is unfortunate.
