Legendary heavy metal act BLACK SABBATH will release a "super deluxe" edition of its classic 1970 album "Paranoid" on October 8 via Rhino.
"Paranoid: Super Deluxe Edition" includes the original album, in addition to a rare 1974 Quad Mix of the album folded down to stereo, plus two concerts from 1970, from Montreux and Brussels, that are pressed on vinyl for the first time. The five-LP set comes with a hardbound book with extensive liner notes featuring interviews with all four band members, rare photos, and memorabilia, a poster, as well as a replica of the tour book sold during the "Paranoid" tour.
The first two LPs on "Paranoid: Super Deluxe Edition" feature the original album plus a Quadraphonic Mix of the album. Originally released on vinyl and 8-track cartridge in 1974, but subsequently long out of print, the Quad Mix has now been made available as a fold-down to stereo mix on vinyl for this set.
The collection's final three LPs mark the official vinyl debut of two 1970 live performances. The first was recorded on August 31 in Montreux, Switzerland shortly before the release of "Paranoid". It captures the band, already a tight musical unit, thundering through new songs like "Hand Of Doom" and "Iron Man" while mixing in "N.I.B." and "Behind The Wall Of Sleep" from their debut album. The second concert was recorded a few months later in Brussels during the band's performance for Belgian television. Unofficial versions of this classic show have circulated in the past, but they've never sounded this good.

If that wouldn't cost like 200€ I might get it just for kicks but I know it'll be out of my price range.
Edit:
Well less than I thought 183€ but still...yikes.

Was kinda expecting the 50th anniversary deluxe boxset treatment for all the 70’s releases but they haven’t done one for the debut so maybe not.
Hopefully this shows up on Amazon. Much cheaper shipping or free shipping if you’re a prime member in my case.

That mooted 'fanclub' edition of the self-titled never came out either. I'd be shocked if we ever get another deluxe edition or similar for it.

This'll also be available at Rhino Handmade's:

Bit cheaper...but it's only the LP-version though.

Thanks for that Charger. Works out about $180AU which isn’t too bad for me. Might wait to see if it shows up cheaper on Amazon or some other websites before I order though.

I've had the 3CD Deluxe Edition of Paranoid for quite a few years now, so the only new audio content for me if I bought this release would be the live tracks from Montreux 1970 as I believe I have the live tracks from Brussels 1970 on the Past Lives 2CD release. So this new Paranoid Deluxe Edition is not worth me paying the price for it.
I hope anyone in this Forum who has bought/buys this release finds it enjoyable and worth the price.

Probably really only for completists/collectors only. But I suppose there’s always new people still discovering Sabbath.
Great to see you again Ted. Hope you’ve been well.
