So I got inspired by Thel not enjoying the title track from Sabbath and started thinking what other classic songs there are that people don't enjoy eventhough they "should"...
I'll carry on with the Sabbath theme...
SNOWBLIND.
I've never understood the love for this song. It's not only a soft and lackluster composition but the drug loving lyrics are waaay over the top. Not counting the instrumentals and Changes this is the weakest track on Vol 4 and for the life of me I can't understand why it became such a big hit.
So come on people! Let the blasphemy begin!

Well I mentioned One by Metallica in the other thread but I can’t say I dislike it or anything. I still like it but I just think it’s overrated. Metallica recently conducted song polls on their socials and One made it to the GF with Master of Puppets which staggered me. It beat out songs like Creeping Death, The Four Horsemen and For Whom The Bell Tolls just to name a few. I find Fade and Sanitarium are much better.
I don’t know what it is but it’s never grabbed me like it has other people. Even fans that say Justice is their best album I find a little head scratching.
I’ll think of some more songs as this thread goes on.

Ok. A few Sabbath songs that people think are up there with their best but which are not even the best song on their respective album.
Children of the Grave - not the worst on the album but don't get why it's so loved.
Heaven and Hell - don't get me wrong it's a great song form a great album but there are 4/5 better songs on the album.
Under The Sun - I don't know, again I don't actually hate it, it's not unlistenable like Changes, but I tend to skip it more often than not.
BTW, I'm sorta with Thel with regards the song Black Sabbath. It's fine and certainly kick started their career, but I prefer Behind the Wall of Sleep, The Wizard, NIB and Warning (the song part anyway! :-X ) from that album.

^ Can’t say I honestly dislike any Ozzy or Dio era Sabbath material or even find anything overrated. H&H and Children of the Grave is a staggering admission though :twitch:
A couple of Sabbath songs for me...
Headless Cross, has a great riff and general vibe but Martin just makes the song so predictable and cheesy with his delivery like he does a lot of songs.
I don’t “dislike” Disturbing the Priest but I just find it so goddam repetitive with the main riff.
Cathedral Spires by Judas Priest. Again I don’t dislike it but do not get the praise for it. Even fans that don’t like the Ripper era but say they love Cathedral Spires wtf. The song just does not move me like people make out.

I fell out of love for Children Of The Grave some time ago. I think it is my second least favourite from the album now after Sweet Leaf. I do think it got played to death a little bit.
As far as One goes...I've never liked it. It's the one song I always skip from Justice. Never understood why that became a hit. I find it very tedious...I usually tend to dislike songs that can't make up their mind if they are ballady or not.
Heaven And Hell though...I could listen to that song every day for the rest of my life and I would never fell out of love with that one...it's just one of those PERFECT songs.
Cathedral Spires though...yikes...that's one of Priests best songs! :wtf:
Speaking of Priest... LIVING AFTER MIDNIGHT...that's one that makes me scratch my head in wonderment. Repetetive, simplistic and silly lyrics...it's the weakest song on the album and yet it's one of their biggest hits...

All of the first Black Sabbath album leaves me going... meh. There's some fun with "Wizard", but I'm not really as into it as I am with the next 5.
"Disturbing the Priest" is warmed over "Scarabus". Check out that track from Ian Gillan's jazz-fusion solo career and go, like, whoooooaaaaa... he's recycling material!
"Stairway to Heaven" has declined in epicness for me, the older I get. Conversely, "When the Levee Breaks" grows on me more and more as one of the best of Zep's catalog, even if it is pirated from Memphis Minnie.
I'm with Charger on "Snowblind". Thanks for whispering "cocaine!" over and over, or I would have NEVER guessed it was about blow. NEVER EVER EVER. For similar reasons, I can live without the "smoke it, get high!" interruption in "Killing Yourself to Live", but still like the song. Can't stand the next track, "Who Are You."

Stairway To Heaven would have been on my list too. It's just a bad boring song...and that's just the studio version...hearing a 20 minute live version is equal to months of water boarding.

I agree with Digital Bitch. Possibly the worst song from the first 11 studio albums if not at least the lamest.
Rush is a band I’ve always struggled to love. I admire the individual talents of the members and the musical side of the band but Geddy Lee’s vocals a hard to cop. Sounds like Vince Neil on helium.

Rush - It was much easier to be a fan of the band when I was playing AD&D every weekend and they were playing stuff like By-Tor and the Snow Dog and Fountain of Lamneth. Moving Pictures was their best and then... Power Windows... I checked out then.
But, yeah, Geddy Lee... I remember saying "Wow, that bass player is awesome, but the singer's got to go!" Even after I found out they were the same, I still stood by my assessment. Budgie has a similar high-pitched vocals issue that keeps me from really getting into them.
My next blasphemy...
I don't like Yngwie Malmsteen. He's talented and all, sure. But... yeah... not a fan. It's like he's all technicality and no emotion in his playing.

I kinda like Digital Bitch..it's a nice fast rocker with funny lyrics and a nice stab at $haron.
As for Yngwie...yup. 100% agree. Also the guy is a 100% asshole with an ego about the size of Sagittarius A*!
I've never really liked Bohemian Rhapsody...it's just kind of pompous and pseudo artistic. How that song became their biggest classic is quite odd to me.

I totally understand. There are many days when I just can't Child in Time, but I can always find time to Pictures from Home.

The whole Born Again album sucks. I thought it sucked then, it sucks now. I tried really hard to like it, but would rather listen to Perfect Strangers if I want some mid-80's Ian Gillan.

But I have to say if I wanna listen to some 80s Ian Gillan I'd put on a Gillan album.
As for Rammstein, yup don't like 'em...not one bit.
More hit songs I don't understand:
Megadeth's A Tout Le Monde....what a boring song. Easily one Megadeth's worst ballads (and they got a few of those) how that became so popular is something I don't understand. I'd take Promises over that one any day!

If I want an 80s Gillan Album, I need it to be Glory Road or earlier. The stuff with Janick Gers doesn't do it for me. I tried...
I like Mk4 DP with Tommy Bolin better than Mk3 DP with Blackmore... and also better than Mk2 Reunion material.

I used to really like Gillan's Future Shock when it came out, I had it on vinyl. Didn't play it for many years until it finally came out on CD. Can't descibe how dissapointed I was with it!
And yes, Iron Maiden have a habit of throwing a crap song or two on their albums, even their best albums are marred by some turds. And as much as I like their last few albums (Brave New World onwards) they just want to fill up the CDs regardless of the material. Of those 5 albums there's maybe 2-2½ albums worth of great material the rest is all skip!

Van Halen's Running with the Devil. I always enjoyed them best when they got their Louis Prima vibe on. Roth's voice never convinced me he was serious, which was perfect to pair with the soulless Eddie.

I agree 100% that about Maiden though... I think Powerslave and The X Factor have the least weak tracks and no real stinkers but all the rest have a few...and yes post reunion albums have been spotty at best...and I don't think post Dance Of Death they've had a single GREAT song.

I used to love Mr. Crowley but I have to say I have fallen out of love lately...I'm thinking it's probably my third least favourite now after No Bone Movies and Crazy Train...
Don's keyboard intro though still is fantastic! But the rest of the song does kind of just plod on..
