To mark the 50th Anniversary of Sabbath’s classic land-mark debut album Zakk Wylde along with Ozzy’s long time bass player Blasko and drummer Joey Castillo have gone into the studio and re-recorded the entire album track for track and like Sabbath did knocked it out in one day.
The album is due out on September 4th
Here’s a taste of what you can expect.

I had heard that this was coming out soon, I might pick it up if it is not overpriced. A very interesting project and on paper it works but I must admit that I am not feeling that version of the song.
-
Yeah I don’t normally go for Sabbath covers but I quite like this and it’s a passion project for Zakk so I’m cool with it. Really interested to hear Warning.
-
It's a solid cover, nothing to get really excited about. But might be interesting to listen to the whole album.
So is it the US release with Wicked World or the European release with Evil Woman? ;)
-
I know this is Blasphemy of the highest order but I was never a big fan of the song Black Sabbath. I always skip it when I listen to the debut.

Zakk Sabbath covers Wicked World quite a bit in their live shows so maybe it will, but if he’s being as faithful as he can to the original he’ll cover the original UK/Euro version.

You’ve actually floored me with that comment Thel. You’ve kept that to yourself all these years?
Confession time then
Not sure I’ve ever confessed to this either but I’ve never been a big fan of Metallica’s One. Fade To Black and Welcome Home(Sanitarium)are so much better.

Tracklist:
1. Black Sabbath
2. The Wizard
3. Wasp / Behind the Wall of Sleep / N.I.B
4. Wicked World
5. A Bit of Finger / Sleeping Village / Warning
This is a pretty cool idea...I don't think anyone has ever done anything like this before...covered an entire album like this...
I gotta say I'm pretty excited to hear Zakk rip through the solo sections of Warning and Wicked World!
I do like the cover...it's different enough but not too much. But I do think it could have been bit heavier even. More like the way Tony plays it live. But I guess the idea was to stay true to the original recording.
And oh boy Zakk just keeps sounding more and more like Ozzy every year...hell he sounds BETTER than Ozzy has in 30 years.

Zakk has always at times sounded a bit like Ozzy albeit he’s much more nasally than Ozzy, but not as nasally on this cover though. 30 years? Ozzy sounded fantastic on Ozzmosis. Even on 13 he sounded pretty great and authentic.

20 years was what I meant to say...that was a typo on my part.
The last album where Ozzy sounded even somewhat authentic was Down To Earth...everything since has had so much overprocessing and autotuning it's not even funny.
Live ofcourse Zakk sounds better now than ozzy has in OVER 30 years.
-
Nah, Ozzy sounds less processed on 13 than on any other album he’s done in the last 20 years.
Zakk can replicate his studio voice pretty well live but I wouldn't call him a great singer to begin with. He’s more than adequate but certainly not in Ozzy’s league in terms of tone and listenable qualities.

I think I might have mentioned it once or twice at the old place. I just find the song to be tedious and annoying and I also had a bad acid trip once while listening to it. Do not get me wrong - I know that it is a groundbreaking song, I am just personally not a fan.

Zakk Sabbath will be releasing a double album called Forever Doomed Doomed Forever next year:

It will feature Zakk, Blasko and Joey prefroming both albums Paranoid and Master Of Reality.
I have to say I quite enjoyed their rendetition of the first album so I'll be getting this one too.
