While an interesting list I do wonder who the voters were because I don't think a wider audience would have placed Gojira and Baby Metal in the top 10 or missed out Rainbow completely. I can't really argue with the top 5 but I would have tweaked the ordering!

Agree with KDC, would be interesting to see where the votes came from. Babymetal at #10? Burger Kill at #14?

I would have replaced Korn with Helmet. Accept should have been on there somewhere.

Was nice to see Slayer in the top 10. Of course Sabbath should have been #1!

But, lists...man, those lists pull you in, rattle your brain, then leave you cold.

Yep was thinking a lot of the age demographic of the voters would probably be between 15-40 judging by the results and probably a lot of UK/Euro voters. Quite a lot of notable absentees.

Some things that stood out

The lack of classic German bands. Scorpions, Accept, Kreator, Sodom

Genre defining bands, Venom, Celtic Frost

Baby Metal at 10 wtf? And who the hell is Burgerkill at 14?

Lack of thrash representation outside of the big 4

No Ozzy in the top 50 surprised me the most though, considering his standing in metal over such a long period of time, sales and attendance figures playing arena’s pretty much his whole career and still headlining major festivals.

Especially given that Dio clocked in at #21. And yeah, no Celtic Frost but Helloween made the list at #49. Surely the masses can't believe Babymetal outdoes Uli Roth's Sails of Charon? C'est la vie.

Babymetal at top 10!??!?!!?!?

HAAHAHAHAH! Okay that alone pretty much destroys the list.

You can clearly see that this is a kids list. Most of the bands here are from the 90s or newer.

The lack of Deep Purple, Rainbow, Savatage, Alice Cooper etc...

And DIO at 21!?!?! Fuck that shit.

There were quite a few bands luckily that deserved to be on the list but were way too low.

Baby Metal being one spot behind Priest makes it hard to take the list seriously. While deserving, Dio at 21 and no Ozzy at all is what makes me think there was a lot of UK/Euro voters.

You could do this list in 5-10 years time and a lot of the current trending bands like Baby Metal, Ghost, 5FDP, etc will probably not be there but replaced with other new trending bands.

^ Exactly. Trends are trends... not "of all time" material.

And, sadly, trends pushed out important pioneers in metal as noted above. Where's Ozzy? Where's Van Halen? Where are The Scorpions? Blue Oyster Cult? UFO? Uriah Heep?
