Austraila: the continent that tries to kill you!
Lol yeah almost all the creatures are poisonous, would love to go their someday though, in search of the Tasmanian Tiger, I’m into crypto zoology.

I recall Josh Gates was looking for the Tiger at one point...I think he didn't find one and concluded that it is highly unlikely that one would still be alive.

I believe in Bigfoot, did you ever see the Patterson Gimlin footage?

That was faked.

No it was not, that is the only Bigfoot footage that has never been proven a hoax, you can clearly see the Sasquatch is a female with pendulous breasts, and anthropology experts have sad that way it moves and turns around is exactly the same way a primate would turn around and walk.

Yeah that's probably the most famous piece of footage of a bigfoot or sasquatch there's ever been.
To me that has always looked like just a guy in a monkey suit. The walk is waaaaay too human like compared to a gorilla for example.
There is bit too much lore and tales of the bigfoot to out right dismiss it's existence all together. HOWEVER are there some out there now...? that's a bit of a question mark.
I believe that hundreds of years ago a species like that might have existed and the native american tales came out of that. Perhaps some sort of a large ape, it is more than possible. But it might have died of extinction long ago. Leaving just the tales.
That's been my take on the issue atleast. Is it possible there still are some left? Possible...yes...likely....no.
This is an interesting topic all together though. I love cryptozoology...and everything that goes with it. Perhaps we need a full on topic for this....

Charger have you seen the detailed documentary about that footage where with today’s technology they do an upclose scene where you can see the animals individual muscles twitch and move, you couldn’t fake that back then.
I believe it.

So made this into a topic of it's own. Worth it I think.

I believe I did watch that (or something of the sort) from youtube last year. Me and couple of buddies are really into this kind of stuff so we check this stuff out every time we get together...which is rarely but still.
The thing is with enhancing the shit out of some old footage is that you can only do it up to a point before it becomes waaay too blurry and fuzzy. And when you go past that point and the footage is still clear enough to make out some muscles of a thing tens of feet away it you have to look at it from a very skeptical view. Real video enhancement doesn't work like it does on movies and tv shows...sadly.
Even NASA enhancement software's aren't that good. And besides the problem with that is that computer has to make guesses about what it on the footage. So it actually creates new while enhancing. So again it is not the same footage anymore. It is an educated guess of what the footage might be made by a computer software.
So are the actual muscles shown on the footage. No absolutely not. It's not possible from a footage of that quality. And you can use enhancement to recreate stuff like that, and it wouldn't be an actual fake as it could be just called a proximate guess work by the software.
That all being said, it is possible that the footage is real, but I highly doubt that. There is a spring on the "creature's" step that just isn't realistic at all...it is waaay too human trait. But that is just my view.
-
I still believe it Charger.

Oh that's fine! I believe in lots of stuff too! :)
And like I said I very much believe that Bigfoot is a real creature or that atleast it was.
In most myths there is a seed of truth...there has to be.
Yeti is another interesting thing. There are a lot of similarities between that and Bigfoot. Might even be the same species. It wouldn't be impossible to consider that it too along with many other species (including humans) travelled through the Bering straight to North America thousands of years ago. It just evolved living in a warmer climate as opposed to the Himalayas.

The Yeti is the same creature just different name different part of the world, just like the Yowie in Oceana and Almas in your part of the world.

I'm always happy to suspend any disbelief I have regarding Bigfoot/Yeti if it means I get to hear Brian Blessed talk about it.
He hasn't seen one, but he's sure they're out there, and I'm willing to go along for the investigatory ride. I've got friends of friends who claim to have had encounters with such giants, so I'm not ready to dismiss every report of a Bigfoot/Yeti as a hoax. Hoaxes are out there, but that's just a sad comment on how some people do irresponsible things.

Do you believe in Bigfoot Z?
The Yeti is from the Himalayas, aka abominable snowman.

I think that there's some strange stuff in the wild and that it would be arrogant to dismiss the very thought of such things as Bigfoot/Yeti/Almas out of hand just because some people can't conceive of such things. We have to take a "we need more evidence for a conclusive view" approach and be open-minded about what we are able to find.
For a parallel, look at Central and South American archaeology. Every year or so, something that gives us a radically new type of information is found in a part of the jungles there that we hadn't been to previously. Finding Incan architecture in the Amazonian lowlands, for example. *That* wasn't supposed to have happened, but there it was...
I don't think we have anything conclusive like a place where we can repeatedly find them congregating and there's the question of what becomes of their body waste - where does it go? What paths or tracks do they follow? How do they interact with other species? Knowing that information can help to pinpoint/discover, if they're out there.
If, for example, we had a stool sample from a Bigfoot, we'd know its diet very soon, and that would teach us where next to look.

Great post Z, being you brought up South and Central America, what is Big Foot called in Spanish? I never heard the Spanish term for Bigfoot, only Sasquatch, Yowie, Yeti and Bigfoot.
Not too long ago, they thought pandas were someone’s imagination or tall tales.
You have Giant Squid aka Kraken, washing up on shore, the woods and ocean are vast, I’ve been to the Pinebarrens in New Jersey where the Jersey Devil was born of Mrs. Leeds, her thirteenth child, scary stuff.

In Nahuatl: Quinametzin and tzitzimitl
In Mayan: Sisimite
Interesting article... I did not know those terms above before today.

Indeed! Very easy to agree with everything...
Also I am certain that there are creatures in the oceans we have no idea of. Perhaps even very large creatures...not just Architeuthis dux or Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni...
Caves are another place where creatures totally unknown could be living...
Another interesting creature is the Chupacabra...which I also do believe that exists.

Regarding the deep ocean, there are creatures there that depend upon the extreme pressures in order to hold their bodies together. They dissipate when brought into lower pressures, such as at mid-ocean depths or higher. Of all the deep dwellers, though, my favorites are the giant squids. The fact that they generate light and colors at those depths can't be for camouflage, as it's totally dark down there. Are the lights to find prey, or are they for communication?
Given that until a few years ago we didn't know that trees talk to each other - not just within a species, but across species - with chemicals, I'd say there's plenty more to learn about what's on the other side of our front door. :)

@ Charger, I was watching this documentary on Bigfoot yesterday. I’m going to see if I can find it post here, you can’t deny this is real.
-
Here is the video I was talking about, 13.59 mins into the video they explain why the footage is real and couldn't have been faked back in 1967.
Here is another one if anyone cares to see it:
After you've watched them tell me what you think.
-
Okay! When I have the time I'll check them out! Thanks for posting bud!
-
I see there is no interest in this thread.
-
Sorry haven't had time to check those out yet... Working nights means I have limited time for other stuff...
I'll take the time today and watch them as I don't have to go to work tonight.
-
Okay watched it...
Pretty interesting stuff. I have to agree with most of the conclusion about the creature itself. It is more than possible that such a creature could still live in the forests of North America...
However the study on that 1967 footage was rather inconclusive to say the least. Firstly the animation done was crude and hardly scientific. And the bulge on the leg...ofcourse they left out the most obvious explanation...just a simple bulge on the monkey suit the guy was wearing.
I still maintain that the movement of the creature is waaay to human like to be anything but human. It is pretty easy to compare that footage with nature documentaries showing Gorillas and other large apes walking...it's nothing like that.
Also the way the creature looks at the camera...if it would have been a wild animal and it would have noticed people so near it would have spurted away fast, or reacted somehow. Not just give a passing supermodel glance...that is the one thing that I find most troubling with this film..
But I still maintain my belief that bigfoot is real...or that atleast it was at one time.
-

Yeah, maybe a million years ago. :smug:

Not that long. I am quite certain that it lived together with Native Americans..it had to. That's where the stories come from. It is quite possible that the indians might have even killed them off...or atleast diminished their number drastically.

Thanks for taking the time to watch them Charger, I think the creature didn't run off when it saw the humans because it is use to humans, so it just walked away, and notice how the mention it's a female, it has pendulous breasts, and I think they are different from apes and monkeys, that's why they don't walk exactly like primates, I don't think they're afraid of humans, that's why it gave the glance it gave as it walked away, they're just smart enough to stay away from us humans, plus Patterson and Gimlin weren't there to kill them if they saw one.
Those are educated people making comments on those video's experts on anthropology and primates and they make some very valid points as to why they thinks the creature on that video could be real, that video has never been proven a hoax and Patterson swore on his deathbed that video wasn't made up or faked, it was an actual event.
Even President Teddy Roosevelt swore to have seen one, now he would have been a credible source.

Hmmm...you do make some good points indeed. But I still don't think the reaction was realistic.
Well calling it a male or a female based on that is pretty impossible and is a wild guess at best.
I do remember reading about Big Teddy seeing one...Him I would be inclined to believe too.

I always thought it'd be cool if Bigfeet people were out there in the wild doing their thing. But when I realized that Harry and the Hendersons wasn't a documentary, I kinda lost my vibe in that regard.

Oh I know that Vyn, I didn’t take it that way. I use to read up on this stuff all the time, just haven’t had much time to do anything lately.
-
One thing we're discovering more evidence of lately is how late other species of the genus homo were able to survive alongside homo sapiens. The more we dig, the more we have to ask about what other assumptions we've made that may prove false.
-
I stand corrected, this found footage proves Bigfoot is a real thing:
-
INDISPUTABLE PROOF
Also, those sax lessons are paying off!
