For anyone that has to use the computer or smartphone a lot... or any keyboard device, for that matter, repetitive stress and strain on the fingers, hands, and wrists can be a painful issue.
Some things that have worked for me besides simply resting from those activities include putting wide elastic bands around the forearm, right up by the elbow. Pressure there helps alleviate pain in the wrist and hand. If the pain is sharp, I've also used an elbow brace to keep pressure in that area. After that, I move to a wrist brace and take a keyboard vacation.
Anything else you've tried and had succeed?
