Recently, vaping has come into sharp focus in the USA because of a recent rash of vaping-related lung illnesses and, now, 14 deaths.
Leaving aside discussion of what things may/should be bigger concerns than this, it is a concern, even if only for the moment.
My wondering aloud about this is that, up to this wave, vaping was pretty much just "smoking lite", at first not really covered by building smoking rules, then eventually covered as smoking, even when non-tobacco loads were being used by the vaper. We've had vaping for a number of years and the worst we've had was with gear accidentally catching fire or exploding, not acute or long-term health issues such as we're seeing this year.
Is this spike in lung illness and death linked to different loads? A particular variety that had a contamination? Are these victims long-term users or those new to vaping? Is there some stupid YouTube challenge we haven't heard about yet that is behind this?

^ That's what I was thinking, some homebrew blend or poorly-made blend that people were using. Like a Chinese factory that churns out toys with lead paint and make false claims on the import bill of lading to evade restrictions.
The flavoring thing is basically tacking on a "think of the children!" piece to the general concern with the health issues.
