I have had this for about 5 years now, but never mentioned it. First tattoo I ever got and probably my last. ;)

That's some dedication right there Typhon. Respect!
Just interested in the font you went with though. What made you go with that font?
From memory it's from The Dio Years compilation and you're more an Ozzy era guy

That's a very cool understated tattoo Typhon! I like the font. The old English font is really Sabbathy.
Here's mine:

I got this to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Heaven And Hell and ofcourse the reunion of the band, as well as support for Ronnie. Little did I know at the time (April of 2010) that it would actually serve as a memorial tattoo for Ronnie who passed away only about a month later.

You're correct, Jack. But as Charger said, it is called the Old English font, which is my favorite. I also used it when I made my address sign for number 5 at the gates to my driveway, as seen below.

I have no tattoos, piercings, or even operation scars. Looks like I get to hang back and watch on this thread. :)
-
Thanks Tyhpon, that was the obvious answer. The entrance to your driveway looks cool btw. You must live on a rather big property?
I don't have any tattoos btw but if I did I'd probably get a Henry tattoo. My favourite Black Sabbath font and probably the more iconic is the Master Of Reality font, but I don't think that would make such a great tattoo. Don't mind the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sabotage and Dehumanizer fonts also which would make a good tattooes.
Here's some little tidbits on the earlier Black Sabbath fonts.

My property is 5.4 acres. However, about half of it is designated protected wetlands in my town. Therefore, I am not allowed to touch it, even though I own it. Which is fine with me (increases privacy).
That's a nice article on the Black Sabbath fonts. Thanks. :)
So what are you waiting for with the Henry tattoo? I am not a big fan of tattoos myself, but this band influenced my life so much that I had to make an exception.
-
The thing with Henry is that it's pretty darn popular tattoo...tons of people have it.
So one would have to add something to make it special.
I was considering Henry too but I opted against it because of that very reason. I was thinking about all sorts of variations of it though...Like incorporating it with a cross or something.
I have also been thinking about getting a DIO one made but it has the same problem...after Ronnie's passing there are literally thousands of DIO tattoos out there now...just the logo, or Murray, or logo + Murray...hard to make something unique out of it.
I do also have my Ouroboros of never ending misery on my other hand, which was my first one.

What is that?

Ouroboros is the snake eating it's own tail. A Symbol of continuity.
In my case the everlasting misery is a continuity so it kind of made sense to have that. Also I added the Mayan end of days date to it as I was hoping that would come and end my misery...ofcourse it didn't so now it's a reminder that the misery is and will always be present going on and on and on...like a never ending wheel...just like the ouroboros.
Also being a big fan of the tv show Millennium it was kind of an obvious choice, that being the symbol of the show as well.
So I dubbed that the Ouroboros of never ending misery as it depicts my life so well. Eventhough the date is now past it still holds that what could have happened, but as that would have been a positive thing in my life ofcourse it didn't.

I use to be a fan of tattooes but not any more. It use to be kinda unique to have tattooes but it seems everyone has them these days, inc a lot of young girls which looks just awful on them. Especially neck tattooes. I would make an exception for a Sabbath tattoo but my wife would actually kill me. Even if it was a small one on my shoulder blade. She absoultely hates them.

Tattoos were once a symbol of something meaningful to the individual, or a milestone in some cultures. Or a lasting reminder of a night of drunken stupidity ("Dude, you can draw pretty good. It'd be awesome if you tattooed FartKnocker on my chest! Hell Yeah!).
The only people who had tattoos on their neck or face were felons or side show freaks.
The past twenty years or so have seen tattoos become a fashion accessory. No real meaning behind them except that the person thinks they look cool. Unfortunately, it's much more difficult to remove an "I Love Pussy" neck tattoo than it is to change your hairstyle.

Yep that's exactly right, they're just a fashion accessory now.. Full sleeves are all the rage or just random small ones all over the arms and legs. I'm sure a lot of people will be regretting them in 20-30 years time.

Well I don't know about regretting them but you are both very much right about what has happened with Tattoos over the last 15 or so years.
All those tattoo shows LA Ink, Miami Ink and so on are probably to blame...atleast partly.
I've always said that a tattoo NEEDS to have a personal connection. It NEEDS to mean something. Which is why I don't understand all those random tribals at all.
-
Not talking so much about people that just have a couple here and there, but the ones that have covered a large portion of their body. The neck sleeves look absolutely disgusting!
Tattoo removal is already pretty big business these days.
-
The only ones I've heard people really regretting having are either racist nazi related stuff or names of ex-lovers...or ofcourse something done while drunk. Which ofcourse is why no proper tattoo artist would ever agree to tattoo anyone who is drunk.
-
I would make an exception for a Sabbath tattoo but my wife would actually kill me.
Well, it sounds like she needs a good talking to. >:( Hey Charger, go talk to her. :))

Do a Google Image Search on "no ragerts"... :smug:

Typos are waaaay to common as well...which is ridiculous really. Should never happen. But if the artist makes a mistake (unfamiliar language or something) he should pay for the removal for sure.

Might be best if I don't...I usually tend to have a more of a negative impact.

So I guess it is just Charger and I who have Sabbath related tattoos. Does anyone know if Billy had any?
-
I don't know if Billy had any Sabbath ink or not. I have two tattoos, but not music-related. Well, I guess one sort of is: Pan dancing and playing his flute.

If memory serves me right he did not. But I am not sure.

Here's mine , the winged Pentagram designed by Tom G. Warrior as the logo of his band Triptykon.
I have and enjoy it since 2011, but man, I didn't know that it was so painful. And yet I think more and more to do another.

Looks pretty good, Tyr66. 8)
@ Vyn: Sounds interesting. What made you get that?

That's very cool looking one Tyr! Don't know a thing about the band, but the logo is very cool!

According to Greek mythology, Pan is the only god to have died. His lifestyle prior to death was reflective of my own when I was a young man. Once I put those ways behind me, it can be argued that who I was then died.
So that tattoo reminds me of what I once was, with no regrets, as well as the fact that it's gone. Long gone by this point.
Plus I think it looks cool :)

You are incorrect. Vyn used the Fred Garvin Male Prostitute character who was played by Akroyd.

^ Then he followed up with Chevy Chase from Modern Problems.

What zzz said!
Looks like we were indeed talking about two different avatars for Vyn... Heck I can't even remember the Dan one....
-
I am a man of many faces belonging to other people. I'll try and find time to take a picture of my Pan tat and post it.

I guess we were. In fact, even today, whenever I converse with Vyn, in my mind I still picture him looking like this. :)

Oh yeah that one! I do remember that one! But that was a long time before the Chevy Chase one...
Gotta love your taste in avatars Vyn!
