Back in the 70s and 80s, this is what radio in Dallas could sound like... KZEW was one of the first FM rock stations in the nation and it had a "whatever's good" format. It's where we could hear stuff that wasn't top 40 - long, deep cuts from bands both above and underground... Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Grand Funk, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, The Who, all the stuff that would one day be part of a 1000-song "Classic Rock" canon, but so much more.
The founders of the station got back together and, armed with all their playlists from back in the day before the sales department got involved in programming decisions, are playing stuff that fits that format. It's not 100% all those songs all over again, but takes a big chunk of those and then mixes in stuff being made recently that would fit in with that crowd of songs.
Zoo 98, along with Q102, were my two rock radio stations in Dallas growing up. I also had KNON for its grab-bag of formats at different times of the day, but The Zoo and The Q were numbers 1 and 2 on my radio buttons, respectively. Good to hear it again.
