Title: Stormbringer... with Dio?
Post by: Zzzptm on February 13, 2018, 07:45:59 PM
Such a badass song...  :death: :guitar: :headbanger: :drummer: :metal1:  :beerbang:

So here's a question... should Ronnie James Dio have been the singer for this song? Would that have made it even more badass than it was with Coverdale/Hughes doing the vocals?

Think about it... I'm of the mind that Blackmore should have brought this one along with "Mistreated" into Rainbow...

Considering that Coverdale and Huges are Rock vocalists and Dio isn't, i don't think so... :)

What's Ronnie then? Techno-hiphop singer?

I have to say I like Tony Martin's version a lot...even more than the original.

Dario Mollo's guitar work is exceptional too!

Edit:
Oh man that made a huuuuuuuge video...not good.

Theatre/Opera-wannabe singer :) Which got nothing to do with Rock. If you're not Freddie Mercury or Rob Halford...

I like the big videos, it's OK... and, yes, Martin does a solid job with the tune. I like his melismatics when he sings "die".

But the keyboard part... that's really, really, REALLY cheesy.

And I have now put Billy on ignore 'coz he's a Dio-hater.

That's right, a Dio-hater. Such things exist. They tend to hang out on Black Sabbath forums and insist on how they like Ozzy way better than any other Sab singer because Dio sucks, that's why. :P

Back on topic, Martin's version does point the way for me to better envision a Dio version of the song, especially with Blackmore doing guitar work.

Billy should lose like 65888 awesomeness points just for the Dio hating...atleast!  :naughty:

Yeah the keyboards are maybe bit cheesy on that one...could have done bit less of them for sure.

But vocally and guitarwise it is excellent.

Don't hate him, just the way he sings. And write lyrics... The guy himself is actually pretty cool at times. :)
