As I've been listening to Black Label Society and celebrating Zakk Wylde's birthday I started wondering other guitarist singers that I like...
So let's put out a bit of a list...We can then later also rank the results if possible.
I'd like to add lets just choose people who handle lead vocals in their bands..not shared vocal duties...
So who are your favourites?
Let's say top 3 + one honorary mention.
Mine would be:
Zakk Wylde (He's guitar playing supersedes his vocals but all in all I think he is the most balanced one)
Dave Mustaine (I've always loved Dave's quirky vocals and he is THE best guitarist in thrash)
Gary Moore (Gary is a legend, again his guitar playing is where the real magic lies but he does good vocals too)
Honorary mention:
James Hetfield (although he has lost all of his deeper register now, back in the day he was good, and his rythm playing hasn't changed)
I have to say I thought this would be more difficult to do...Mark Knopfler was one that I was thinking about giving the HM to...but honestly I am not a big Dire Straits fan but his guitar playing and vocals are fantastic though...

Keeping things to rock (as I've got lots of folk singers I enjoy), I'm going with...
Tony Reed of MOS Generator. Reed has a vocal style very similar to Ozzy and is very meticulous about his playing. A real treat to listen.
Kent Stump of Wo Fat. Kent can both sing and growl and his blues-fueled heavy riffing keeps me comin' back.
Rory Gallagher. Rory's such an amazing player and his voice has great richness and expression. He makes the blues come to life.
Howlin' Wolf. This man can growl and play that acoustic steel guitar in ways that can chill the soul.
TOMMY BOLIN! His albums Teaser and Private Eyes are must-listens!
Looks like I'm not going to limit myself to just 3+1...
Dave Mustaine is another fave of mine. I'll also add Buck Dharma and Eric Bloom of Blue Oyster Cult - Buck for "Don't Fear the Reaper" and Eric for "Subhuman."
Let's mention Jimi Hendrix: :jimi: ... and don't nobody forget Curtis Mayfield!
Randy Bachman, Carl Perkins, Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Rusty Weir, Lightnin' Hopkins, George Harrison, Andy Powell, Ted Turner, Peter Frampton, Pete Townsend, my list goes on...

I don't believe I've ever heard a MOS Generator song. If I have, I didn't know it.

Some very interesting picks here...and again some people that I wouldn't have put as guitarist singers...like Sammy Hagar? I didn't even know he played guitar!
I would like to add someone though:
Joan Jett.
The lists here seem to be rather void of women...

Mille Petrozza
Buddy Holly

Yeah! Should have mentioned him along with Knopfler really...But honestly though Johnny wasn't really what you'd call a lead guitar player though.

I was getting into them a few years ago, with their Abyssinia album. His delivery reminded me so much of SBS-era Ozzy on the first track that it made me want to talk a little Sabbath and to get active on the BSO forums...

True. I forgot Acid and Jen from Honeymoon Disease, a great up-and-coming biker/stoner/rock/metal band from Sweden.
