Title: Marty Balin is now on the great airplane in the sky

He was 76, no cause of death released at this time.  While some of their music was pretentious dreck, some of it was transcendent and thus has the Airplane always been a fave of mine.

Jefferson Airplane had some great tunes! White Rabbit, Somebody To Love and Embryonic Journey come to mind atleast.

Yeah, that pretension really got to me about stuff they did. I remember I had just gotten into The Grateful Dead and thought, "Cool, I bet Jefferson Airplane will be more of this awesome stuff!"

It was not.

But Marty Balin sure could sing.
