I've realised we haven't really talked a whole lot about food around here yet...
So lets kick that conversation off with a battle of the two main meats! Pig and Cow! Which one do you prefer?
I've always been a pork guy myself...just love the taste of pork...
I can eat Beef too and when it comes to ground meat I'll usually choose beef actually as it can be bit leaner.
But talking about steaks and such...pork is my favourite!
-
I voted Beef but I like pork as well. I also have been eating more chicken lately. Trying to eat a bit better.
Nothing beats a steak though or a nice bacon cheeseburger. Damn now I am hungry!
-
I love fish. When I'm in a steak restaurant, I order fish and I'm happier with my choice than if I ordered steak. I enjoy candied fish from Vietnam and Thailand. Fish, fish, fish, fish, fish!
I've also eaten insects and I can say that they're pretty tasty. So I voted insect.
-
I love the taste of fish, but I am allergic to fish. Not shellfish mind you, but fish. I can eat crabs, shrimp, lobster oysters, clams, but give me Tuna or Salmon and my throat starts to close up.
-
Yeah I do try to eat fish every now and then too, but I wanted this to be about Pork vs Beef more than anything.
I do not eat chicken...I got pretty traumatized when I was a kid and ate some bad chicken or something and got really really sick...remember throwing up constantly...haven't eaten chicken since.
I haven't tried insects yet...well part from few flies and mosquitos that fly into my mouth...they aren't all that tasty.

Being more and more aware of the industrial slaughter perpetuated on our co-tenants on this planet, I must say that I still eat beef but fish is my favorite food. Aside from sausages and ham, I don't eat pork.
Still not tried insect. I can't pass the disgust that it generates in me in addition to this swarming and multi-legged aspect. That said, we will sooner or later be obliged to do so. The diet based on seaweed also has a bright future ...

We've got some insect products for sale here where they are ground up to a fine powder...that should help with the disgust...I have been meaning to try out the sausage made from that but haven't yet....

I have cut out a good deal of red meat from my diet over the years. Given these choices, I would choose beef, but fish and fowl is my thing. Even the hot dogs I buy are turkey dogs. I can not tell it isn't beef.
@Zzz - if you like fish that much, then I hope you had some when you visited Boston. Here in Massachusetts we have loads of fresh fish.

OH YES I DID!!!
Some truly *excellent* preparations, I might add! Seafood and pizza, you can't go wrong in Massachusetts!

A great rock song about carnivorous explorations.

Raindeer is really really good.
Haven't tried Kangaroo...would have had the chance couple of weeks ago as there was International Market at the city and there was an Australian booth there that sold Kangaroo burgers...but they cost sooo much that I didn't wanna risk it in case it didn't taste good.

clichés: stuffed snails and frog legs with herbs !
No taste interest for snails, everything is in the farce. As for frogs, I've never eaten in my life. Same for brain of lamb.

Its probably more like beef but a little stronger in taste but not too gamey. Has to be cooked right though. A lot of Australians have an issue eating our national coat of arms.
Roo burgers are yum btw.

Charger puts a simple poll up, and the result is you guys talking about eating anything that moves. :squint:

Surprised that people in other countries eat other stuff? :)

;D
Yeah I kind of expected this to get a wider track but I still didn't want to add other options to the poll as I wanted to know which people like more Pork or Beef...honestly doesnt look like I will though! :D
@Jack
I kind of expected Kangaroo to be bit more gamey than pork or beef...but not so gamey as lets say deer or elk. Which is why I didn't really want to try it as I feared that if not cooked properly the burger might be dry.

Of course not, it's just not what the poll was asking. Did you answer it?

I love pork but I'll take a good steak any day. If you've never ordered meat from Omaha Steaks try the bacon wrapped filet mignon. (http://rs95.pbsrc.com/albums/l139/unluckygal/untitled-1.jpg~c200)

Bacon wrapped... so that's pork AND beef at the same time! If you had to have one, which would you leave out of the picture?
As for myself, I picked insects, which is a legit choice. :smug:

Ahh good point ZZ, I'll keep the steak!

Meanwhile, I've been to Vietnamese restaurants recently. When I order a noodle bowl, I prefer pork to beef and beef to other stuff.
-
Looks like Beef took the win here...and with a bit of a margin too.
But if there is someone who hasn't voted yet please do so.
-
Beef for me, but I like pork too!! :excited:
-
But, let's not forget insects! Ants are a real spicy little treat, fun to munch on.

You're quickly becoming our resident Bear Grylls with comments like these! :D
I think I could eat some insects like Bear but this one:
NO
FUCKING

That ain't civilized.
When I eat bugs, I get 'em hot and fresh on the street.

That was me in 2006, at the Donghuamen Night Market in Beijing, just east of the Forbidden City (hence the name, which translates as East Gate).
