There's a Japanese illustrator who created a series called "What's Michael?" I found out there are animations based on his creations.
This first one is very... Japanese...
It's not very long at all before the :wha: factor kicks in.

Then I found an Italian-dubbed version of the cartoon that looked to be more straightforward as an animation (no translation really necessary) that strangely tied in to the first cartoon...

I have to point out that the fact that dogs are able to relate to us, are loyal and possible to train, while cats are more what we like to call "independent" show that dogs are actually the smarter ones. Jus sayin... :-[

Well that is a bit of an over generalization. Cats can be extremely social as well. Like my Leo for instance, he is pretty much all the time with me. Either sleeping/sitting next to me or on my lap. Generally he is in the same room as me for as much has possible.
Cats can take care of themselves and they can pee and take a dump without the need of being told to do so...so yeah that's more independent than dogs for sure.

Awesome: he seems to keep watching the spinning of the vinyl without getting excited or upset about it at all. Also, pretty relaxed around Dogs obviously. Nice!

We've got 4 cats in my house. One of them, a tortoise-shell, likes to get me to lift the covers on the bed so she can cuddle up next to me. Once she settles in, she purrs for Texas!

I just thought I'd share a bit of sad news about my Leo...
It seems that he has gotten some sort of a balance problem over the course of the past few days. It seems to be hard for him to stand upright sometimes and when ever he shakes his head he nearly falls down.
I'll be calling the vet tomorrow (there are a very limited number of call times for the local vet and since Leo gets super stressed in car rides I can't really take him farther.) and see what they say. From what I could gather it could be anything from an inner ear infection to a kidney problem to a brain tumor.
I am seriously worried now as he is my best and only friend and if this turns out to be something really serious and god forbid deadly I do not know how or if I can carry on as then I'd be virtually all alone.
So please guys send out some positive energy to Leo if you can...

Just got off the phone with the vet and wasn't good news. She said that balance problems for a cat of this age usually means something very serious. So time to prepare for the worst I guess. I'll be seeing the doc on Thursday so then we'll perhaps know more.

Came back from the vet...
Not really much information unfortunately, but blood tests have been drawn and he got some antibiotics and a shot of cortisone which is supposed to help with the balance issues.
The vet thought that it very well might be an inner ear problem but didn't rule out tumors...
Now we just gotta wait and see if the antibiotics help....if they do then things would be looking good...if not....well...

So I came home from travels yesterday. All three of my cats had to come by to give me a sniff... and then waited for me to give them a skritch. :)

Attention all cat lovers: You must, you simply MUST come to Amsterdam to see the Cat Museum here! It is an absolute gem of a place. I took two walks through it, I was having so much fun. It is full of cat-related art and advertising and, yes, even actual cats. :) I'm glad I was able to take a few hours from business today to visit that lovely little place.

I do like to get around. :) I got bit by the travel bug back in 2006 when I got a chance to go to China (I wrote a history of China, and my publisher sent me over there). Since then, I've been to several countries and have done some massive road trips with the family around historical themes.
I also now travel 30-40% of the time for my work. This month, it's 100% travel, so it was nice to have at least a few days to play, even if I couldn't have my wife with me on this trip. Once the kids are 100% on their own, we're looking at her coming with me as an option. If it's a place like Scranton, she'll wish me well as she sees me off. If it's a tad more exotic, she's up for joining along.

We said goodbye today to our lovely, friendly tortoise-shell cat Izzy. We were blessed to know her for 10 years, but don't know how old she was when we got her. A friendlier cat I've never known. She was old and got thin and slow - today, she pretty much just went to sleep and didn't wake up.
She was such a sweet little cat, and I'll have memories of her settling on my lap as I worked from home, typing while she purred.

Thanks guys...the little guy is doing well...he's already sleeping on my lap and spending time in bed with me every night... Leo's bit afraid of him though so they don't share the bed.
Now I do have the daunting task of naming the little bugger...it's always a hard task...as I want the name to be bilingual...english and finnish...and that's not easy.

Haha! I know the feeling. Leo tends to do that too. Sly's not much of a lap sleeper but Leo quite often is...especially when I'm watching tv...makes it hard to have a bathroom break!
