Title: Goodbye Garfield

I woke up this morning and my cat was paralyzed in his back legs. I took him to the emergency vet. He had to be put down.

I am broken - I have not felt this horrible for a long time.

I love you Garfield my little buddy!!!  :cry: :(

 :( Sorry to hear that, Thel.  Over a decade ago, a cat I had for around 9 years died in my house from some type of blood disease.  How long did you have Garfield?

I feel for you, brother. Loosing pets is one of the shittiest things.

I had Garfield for about 17 years. I cannot believe that he is gone.

Rest assured that Garfield had a long life.  Domestic cats rarely live past 15.  Mine was only 12.

It's always sad to hear of the passing of a beloved pet. I love cats (and dogs) but I've never been an owner. One of the reasons is because it's difficult to say goodbye when the time comes. Remember the good times and think of him with fondness.

I am still in shock really. I feel so numb yet at times I have waves of sorrow wash over me.

So sorry for your loss Thel. Garfield was obviously a much loved, happy and very well taken care of cat to live 17 years. Hopefully you can take some comfort in that.

One of my cats, a big Tuxedo cat named Kevin, is in his last days. We're coming to peace with that realization, but there's still the sadness and pain of separation.

I'm sitting in silence a lot since I got that news. Just pausing, thinking, remembering...

I am saddened to hear this Zed!! I still have not gotten over the shock of Garfield not being there.

What helps is being able to talk about it, for sure. I've had 8 other cats in my life that have passed away, none are ever easy to deal with.

Losing a beloved dog or cat is the hardest part of owning them  :'(
