Even in winter, Oslo can offer up some enjoyment for the global traveler!

Love the Ibsen statue they featured. He's a very good subject for statues.

The statue garden also looked quite intriguing, as did the bottle museum.

"I'm dreading the racist section."

"There's a racist section?"

"There always is."

I was planning to take the time for this during the weekend, but the weather is just too damn nice, so i'll rather go around in the sun playing guitar. Just popping in for the usual check-up ev'ry now & then.

Will get back to it at a later point...

Correction; the origins of the foundation of Norway was in 872 by Harald Hårfagre. 1050? Harald Haråde? HAH! One would think shows like this had better researchers... It would even be better to say by Olav Haraldson (the "holy") in 1030...  :naughty:

"There's actual icebergs" Ice flakes they're usually called. :)

Hildring. Just, hildring.

If you mean the Norwegian word you couldn't be more right...

I understand this is supposed to be somewhat funny, but really it was just stupid. If this makes you wanna go to Oslo; don't go...
There's very little about the real Oslo culture, let alone the general Norwegian. It's just typical big city-stuff.
The only good stuff was Vigelandsparken, the Munch museum and the sadly way small mention of the Viking ship, Fram and Kon-Tiki museums. The guy who owns the bottle-museum is a rich asshole who set up museums and sculpture parks for all kinds of crap, just because he can, and nobody likes him...

The food wasn't authentic in any way, just "high class" imitation. Even the hot dogs were all wrong. It's either bread OR lompe, or mashed potatoes at the side. Not all three at once. That must be the only kiosk in whole Norway doing that. Pointless to have in a travel show about Norway...

A dark skinned person falling on skis, that's ALWAYS funny for a Norwegian, though, for some reason...

NEXT!

A very beautiful word. Not necessarily in the way you used it, but we've got this word "hildringstimen" (the hildring hour), which could be translated to "the magical hour". It's that time in the evening just as it's getting dark or right when the morning dawns, and anything can happen... :) Kinda like "the small hours" type thing...

There's a joke about how Vigeland got the inspiration for his monolith: put in any place where people are considered stingy, often it's the mid-western part of Norway called Sunnmøre, though i know it best with my childhood valley Soknedal.
Vigeland was walking down the street one day, and he dropped an øre/cent/penny (low currency coin).

:P

Well, I still like Richard Ayoade. Guy's a comedy genius.
