Title: Smilies
Post by: Zzzptm on February 13, 2018, 11:37:16 AM
If you like smilies for your posts, this is your board.

If you use the quick reply interface, you won't see the smilies in that. If you use the full reply editor / start new topic interface, you'll see a bunch of little yellow guys getting down with their bad selves. You'll also see a "more" link below the little smilies. That will bring up a pop-up that shows a lot more smilies along with animated GIFs. Feel free to use them.

If there's one you want to be able to use without clicking on them, it's simple. Hover over the image and you'll see a pop-up with that image's name. Type a colon : and then the name and then another colon : and that will summon forth that image.

For example, the dancing banana is coded "banana" so typing in
Code: [Select]
Will yield this:

If you don't want an accidental smiley to happen, be sure to always type a space after every colon character.

If you want a new smiley added, request it here and we'll consider it.

Outright rejection for anything obscene or that involves gore. If it's banned somewhere else or you have to be 18 or older to view it, don't try to get us to use it here.  :redcard: C:-)

No Bonzo and Jonsie? And... Geez and Oz should've been from the Paris/Belgium show too. That's when they were at their peak.
Complaints, complaints... :)

Find some live Darkthrone post '91 ;)

No, seriously, there should be some BM, so Attila Csihar and Necrobutcher/Jørn Stubberud (Mayhem) would be cool. I could come up with tons of bands, but i don't wanna keep you occupied forever.
Ian Anderson standing on one foot with his flute would be cool, though. That's three suggestions from me, maybe others've got some too...

Should be someone with a "look", though. Pretty sure many here would like to have Alice Cooper, which i wouldn't mind myself. Robert Fripp and Bill Wyman probably wouldn't work too well. Hard to tell the difference between a gif and a pic... :P

And Beatles are never wrong, as they're the only ones who can match Sabbath... ;) Sgt. Peppers/Magical Mystery Tour era...

Heck, why don't you just PM me how to add gifs so i can just do it myself. Too numbscull to be tweaking without really knowing what i'm doing tonight...

The Brussel 1970 show is stunning, but for a gif, Cal Jam 1974 is just as great, and maybe even better for Geezer - I think he just looks amazing at Cal Jam. Great work, Zzzptm!

OK, I've got some work to finish, so why don't you wait out there until I'm done, then we'll get some ice cream and talk about uploading GIFs...

I can't seem to be able to save them as GIF files. I like them, but I can't do "save as image" on them and get a GIF format.

Seems they are in a "container" and when attempting to save-as it comes down as a web part. Don't have time to dig into it further at the moment, but I'm sure they can be snagged.

The problems continue... the regular GIF files are over 4MB, so there's an issue with the file upload process when we do it from the Admin console. It's an HTTP file copy thing, not a message board thing. Going with the optimized GIF files that are 2MB or less, the files themselves look extremely choppy.

So I went to https://ezgif.com and worked with the larger files to optimize them to just under 2MB and the results are better. There is some image noise added, but I think It's OK, given the nature of the GIFs themselves.

No way will that fit at the top of the forums, though...

That IS cool!

But this isn't a Judas Priest forum though so I'm not sure it would even be suitable to have it as our official logo...

But we could put it up there for a second just for fun...

 :)) :)) :))

Now, how gay isn't that..?  :wootwoot:

(Sorry in advance to anyone who feel that was an inappropriate use of that word. I've probably made out with more guys than you anyway...)

Really cool logo, Jack, but yeah. It'll make us seem like a Priest only-board. I feel we should still find some way to use it, though.

Can do. I'm thinking we'll also need a Scorpions one from the "Rock You Like a Hurricane" video.

Just a note - moved the "puke" one from the Post Form to the Popup, so I don't have to look at it every time I'm working on a post.

It should be on the popup page, probably at the bottom.
