Without any spoilers (in case someone here hasn't seen it yet and wants to) what did you think of the finale? I had some mixed feelings...loved badass Mulder and William's blow-up power was cool as hell but I guess I was hoping for bit more answers than we actually got...but then again gotta remember this is The X Files we're talking about...that show never was about the answers! :D
Well , yes as we're talking about X-Files , this finale scene is not a finale one
I'm pretty sure this saga will not stop there. I understand that Gillian Anderson will probably be the hardest to convince to resign for another season in a few years. My god, during those two last shows, Gillian is so hot !!
Not a single word here about Reyes agent but , damned , WTF ?
I also read here and there that a spin-off could be developed from the newest member of the family. I hate this idea.
Clearly one of my top five farourite tv shows of all times !
I'm back on Netflix (for a short while, atleast), so i'm doing some cathcing up.Billy if you have Netflix and haven't watched Narkos you need to do yourself a favour and ditch or put on hold those shows you're watching and dedicate some time to Narkos. I generally don't watch much tv series shows but Narkos is just so good and so goddam addictive you'd be doing yourself a serious disservice not watching it.
Sherlock s4
Was waiting for it for a while, but haven't gotten around to it until now. Pretty nice wrap-up of the loose threads, Mary's past, Moriarty and the third Holmes sibling. The last episode was pretty epic. And it was such a nice wrap-up that though it's already written, i really hope there won't be a season 5. That would mean going more back to the "each episode on it's own" formula of the first two seasons instead of a story arching over several episodes. That's if they don't start a new story ofcourse, but i can't see what that would've been...
Happy!
Went through all 8 episodes yesterday/tonight. It's pretty fun quasi-psychedelic splatter crime black comedy, but also a nice satire about "plastic christmas".
And with all that blood and brain matter, the one and only profanity in the whole series was bleeped out. How American... :))
The Alienist
This was sold to me as being about the beginnings of psychiatry. Yeah, in some ways it is, but rather it's about using it in that one investigation, so in that regard it's more akin to Ripper Street and Copper in being a more typical period drama/crime, showing the beginnings of scientific investigation as a whole (be it fingerprinting, filing of information, forensics or in this case; psychiatry). But being a sucker for period drama/crime from the late 19th century it's just alright with me.

^^ Charger , can't believe you're missing The Handmaid's Tale !! Pure definition of dystopia .
Planning to watch Hostages and Sacred Games next, after I'm done with Mossad 101.
Sacred Games has Saif Ali Khan in it, and I love his acting.

wow , Toni Collette is in the cast of Hostages . Ok, this show is already sheduled for soon.

Hostages was pretty good...it had it's ups and downs...the story was bit dragging at times...but Dylan McDermott was ace.
So we've had 3 episodes of Season 9 of THE WALKING DEAD.
I won't give out any spoilers (nor should anyone else obviously) but what I can say is that this has probably been the worst season opening in the show's history...
Virtually no action and considering these are Rick's final episodes his involvement has been scarce at best.
It is clear that they are setting up things that will take place this season but they are doing so way too slowly I'd say. The new showrunner isn't doing a great job I have to say.
Hey Thelemech!
I'm watching Corner Gas on the Amazon Prime! Love that show!
I just bought the first season on dvd!!
Haven't watched it yet though but I am looking forward to it as I was a huge fan of The Good Wife!

Just noticed this post Zed!! I have not seen a lot of Corner Gas but it was pretty funny the few times I did.
I just recently bought the second season of WKRP In Cincinnati and just finished watching the first three episodes. I love this show and had a blast revisiting it. I will watch a few more episodes later today. :rockon:Great show, loved Dr. Johnny Fever.

Hey Charger, last night I watched the Orville episode where Alara is leaving to remain on her home planet. Maybe I have been alone too long, but I think that female alien was looking pretty hot! :)
I don't know if there are any other fans on here, but I just watched Episode 1 Season 8 of Game of Thrones. While there was not much action in this one there was a lot of important scenes, information... and tensions build. So pumped for this series.
Game Of Thrones never really grabbed me...I did try with the first few episodes when it started but the way all the characters were done to be real unlikeable assholes turned me off almost instantly.
I don't have a problem with having a really unlikeable bad guy that's actually usually great but when all the "good" guys are such as well it just doesn't work.
Honestly gotta say I never ever NEVER in a million years would have thought that show would become so big...I was sure it was a one season hit and miss.
There's a big audience for good fantasy - just look at the success of the Middle Earth trilogies - but it is horses for courses, it is not going to appeal to everyone. it is darker in tone which would alienate the unicorns/fairy princess sector!
Game Of Throne , episode 4 season 8.
Another big shock for me this last evening . All this drama will end in tragedy ...
Too bad.

I've no idea where this is going, who will win, or how... it's great!
But there have been some sad deaths in the last two episodes - not unexpected - but still sad.
I don't follow the show but I do know that some dude grew his hand back or something....
Tyr66.I saw the fifth episode last night . My God, madness, mass killing, revenge, death and fire everywhere.
Are you up to date with GoT, wondering what you thought of Episode 5, I don't want to post any possible spoilers.

Jamie Lannister (Nikolai Coster-Waldau) had his hand cut off in (I think) series 3 and since then has had a golden prosphetic hand. There are scenes where he learns to use a sword with his left hand but he is never that great with it. But his hand did not grow back at any point. There is very little magic in the series, although another character was brought back from the dead.

I don'tt want to divulge too many things but it's sad to see Daenerys falling into melancholy and paranoia. Jon Snow continues to be inconsistent in this final season. Strange. Tyrion seems to be best placed to be crowned.
Incredible episode, despite few improbabilities from the last to this one.

I think it's only you and I who are watching it, but if I'm wrong anyone else should stop reading now as there will be
!!!!SPOILERS!!!!
This is the first episode this season where I've felt it didn't quite work for me. I know Deanerys was pissed off, but it was with Cersei, Euron, her advisors and to a lesser extent her army. Yes, destroy the palace, but how does destoying everything else in the city including the innocent citizens make any sense whatsoever even if she is derranged.
I think the problem with Jon Snow is he's conflicted between his love for her, his disgust at her actions and wanting to do the right thing which will upset Deanerys... you don't want to upset Deanerys. Tyrion is probably no longer on her side and will help to overthrow her. Arya has probably added Deanerys to her "list".
A video on IMDb today suggests that Jon, Tyrion and Arya will probably unite to defeat her, suggesting that Arya may try to kill Drogon at which point Deanerys is helpless.
The fight between The Hound and The Mountain was pretty good, I can't help thinking the fight between Euron and Jamie should have been short and 1-sided in Euron's favour, and Cersei's death was a little unsatisfactory. Actually apart from my big gripe about Deanerys's actions I really enjoyed the episode.
^^^
I think I remember watching that as a kid...black and white right?
^^^
While the finale wasn't entirely what I was expecting regarding the story arc, it was still great. I don't understand the negative response? What were people expecting?

All those hipster teens need to be kicked right in the nuts and stop consulting social networks to think by themself .
They confuse their wacky theories with common sense and a great story that required a grand ending.
We got it. What more ?
that being said, I am convinced that strong ingredients for a suite are there ...

You are correct. They have been showing them on public television over here, called Cold Feet: The New Years. I will likely buy those after I rewatch the old ones.(https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BMTc4OTY1NTkzNl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTYwODEwNzk4._V1_UY268_CR3,0,182,268_AL_.jpg)

I don't know if it made it across the pond but in 2016 it was resurrected with the same cast and they are now on Season 8 in the UK!

@ Thel: Try this one if you want some darn good entertainment. My favorite western, by far.

I'm still on season one, it's one of those shows I have to be ready to watch, and then only a little at a time. Breaking Bad is like that for me, as well.

Love love love those! Been too long.
Bug Bunny for me, I never really liked Daffy Duck though.
While not Looney Tunes, I have the early Tom and Jerry's on DVD, the absolute best that the 1940s gave us.
I have to say I've been more of a Daffy guy myself...but honestly I love all the characters...Yosemite Sam is another great one!
Going to finish The Terror today, it's got an incredible cast and a story well told.
Working through the great BBC series Porridge, only saw a few episodes before and loved them. Netflix has the series, and I got up to the middle of season 2 on my flight back from the UK.

Porrideg is one of my all time favourite sit-coms, Ronnie Barker at his best as the serial criminal banged up for 5 years, and the rest of the cast are phenominal too. All set within the walls of Slade Prison. I think there's less than 30 episodes all told plus a spin off film (which was quite good too). There was a spin off series called Going Straight when he gets released but it wasn't so good, but not actually bad.
3 episodes in to the new adaptation of WAR OF THE WORLDS.
Very different from the others this one, but still good though and the atmosphere is GREAT...the suspense is well done...but I do miss the tripods...but I do understand that from a budget stand point the new types of sentinels are much more affordable...and they still are scary though.
Gabriel Byrne once again is EXCELLENT.

Yeah I know...but my point was for me there is only one platform TV...I don't do those stupid streaming services. Only two ways for me to watch shows. TV or DVD/Bluray.

Nope. I hate the whole concept of paying for something that you can just see on tv...which is something you have to pay for anyways...so it's like paying double.

I just finished the excellent first season of "The Terror".Autobiography? :smug:
Here is where I take an opposite view to Typhon's. Shock, amazement, I know... Typhon and Z disagreeing??? :smug:Not to mention it cost less than 50 cents a day to subscribe.
Netflix has a substantial number of foreign series, stuff I just can't get on any US channel. Israeli, French, German, Russian, Polish, Indian, Mexican, and Irish - there's some great stuff out there and I can't get it any other way legally. Hulu is cheap, and will stream a few shows I like to watch, and I just finished the excellent first season of "The Terror" on it.
Amazon Prime pretty much goes with Amazon Prime Video, so if I'm already paying for fast delivery, I get some shows as a thank-you is how I see it.

Britbox is looking interesting. Could clinch it if they're downloadable, otherwise I'll have to think it over.
I have been watching the first season of Columbo. What a great show, they sure do not make them like they use to.
My dad always watched Columbo and the Rockford Files. I was never much of a fan, but he loved them.

The first 9 or so seasons were good...then it started to get overly repetetive and it's like everything was about Benson...so I stopped watching.
All L&O shows were great though.
Started to watch the new series of Narcos Mexico(season 2) but it’s not pulling me in like season 1 or the original Narcos series. This one seems a little slower. I’m sure it’ll get going though...
Been watching/catching up on quite a few shows during this self-isolation period that have been recommended to me in the last few months. Started with Season 1 and 2 of Mr Inbetween, an Australian black comedy crime drama which follows the escapades of a deadpan Standover/Hit man who leads two very different lives. Absolutely loved this series, it’s very funny and quite confronting. I think it’s available on FX in the US but not sure where elsewhere for the rest of the world but check it out if you can. Here’s a little review I came across on YouTube regarding Mr Inbetween

I was very happy with how the writers for Star Trek are now able to explore more human failings than before. Drug addiction, family breakup, real things like that get into the plot of this series

Maybe we have been watching a different show but Star Trek has dealt with those two specific issues and plenty of "real things"!!! :naughty:
Well, not drug addiction.
Just bought the first 4 seasons of the incredible THE BLACKLIST!
Been watching season 1 now. It only aired for 2 seasons here many years ago so this is a real treat and the show is just FANTASTIC!
New season of QI.
New season of QI.
Do you get that in the US? I watch it all the time (the old series are repeated regularly on the channel called Dave!)

Haven't you seen any of them before? I have not watched those in a long time, but have seen them all.
Four episodes into the first season. So far, pretty interesting.

Awesome , with a surprising final guest !!
Just finished the final 3 episodes of Season 2 of The Mandalorian which I started watching just before Christmas. Chapter: 14 was sick but they absolutely nailed the season finale.
Cannot wait for what what’s ahead.
Agree, that final scene was such great surprise as has been the whole show. My expectations weren’t very high given what Disney has done with the franchise but having Jon Favreau at the helm along with Dave Filoni and great cast & characters has been a godsend and really invigorated my love for Star Wars.Just finished the final 3 episodes of Season 2 of The Mandalorian which I started watching just before Christmas. Excellent tv show.
It's gaining in power and already seems to be cult. the last scene of the last episode is so unexpected and successful. Just wow !!! The third season is in pre-production. We understand that a spin-off is already in the works with "The Book of Bobo Fett", still with Temuera Derek Morrison and the beautiful Ming-Na.The first season should be released at the end of 2021, a few months before the third season of The Mandalorian .

La la la (fingers in my ears!)... no spoilers! I'm only half way through season 2. :)
I think one of the reasons The Mandalorian works so well whereas the recent films have been devisive, is that each episode has a simple premise, there are no multiple story arcs in the same episode, there's a limited number of characters and there's not a lot of "space opera"!
Just started watching this series for the first time.Best western series of all time! What a fantastic cast of characters that one has...Ian McShane is beyond suberb.

^^^ I always found Farscape to be a bit of a mixed bag in terms of the quality of the writing. I did like it for the most part and I would agree that it was not on the same budget as Star Trek. If memory serves it is the Jim Henson company doing many of the characters.
Been watching BOSCH from Amazon lately...I'm on season 5 now...
This is a REALLY REALLY good show with a great cast. Titus Welliver on the lead is just SUBERB.

Derry Girls :)
That didn't work for me when I saw a couple of episodes a year or two back. The girlfiend likes it though!
Well, it's now on Hulu in the USA...
LOL! With that title it would never get broadcast in the UK. I'm guessing "wog" has a different meaning in Austrailia. It's a derogatory term for a black person in the UK, almost as bad as the N word! Its more an ethnic slur towards Italians and Greeks here but much like how black Americans call each other the N word the Italians and Greeks can call each other or themselves wog. A lot of younger Aussies that come from an ethnic or migrant background talk like the son in Superwog Lol
^^^Here’s some context around it and use of the word in Australia
So much the same meaning but amongst different groups.

I have been watching this for the past couple of weeks and with the death of Howard Hesseman recently it makes me appreciate the show even more.
This is one of the greatest sitcoms of all time, in my opinion.
Who knew Disney, of all studios, would cover the Pam & Tommy Lee story...You're not wrong, especially when you see some of the scenes.

Some of the scenery and visuals are actually pretty good for what I guess is a low budget production.
The film itself is typical RE fair... virus outbreak in airport... blah blah.. rescue of dodgy senator...blah blah... all seems to lead to a hi-tech research facility... blah blah.. sectret dealings... blah blah... big battle against mutant etc.
It's enjoyable enough, better than several of the live action films 7/10. Now looking forward to the imminent release on DVD of Resident Evil: Vendetta.
EDIT: One thing I should add, the way the CGI is done it does make it look like you're watching someone playing a video game.

Just quoting myself here as I've just watched Resident Evil: Vendetta, which uses very similar technology to the earlier Degeneration film... i.e. animation using motion capture.
This time the plot involves an arms dealer with a grudge who has access to the virus and the race to stop him from releasing the virus and develop a vaccine. It's okay, the graphics are slightly more refined than the earlier film, but that doesn't make up for a slightly predicatble plot and weak villain. 6/10

Just posting a message I placed on BSO last September, so that I don't have to repeat myself! :)
I've just watched the 2nd of the Resident Evil animations Resident Evil: Damnation (2012), and much like the two mentioned above it is a motion-captured animation, and the visuals are as good as the other two.
The plot involves Leon S Kennedy infiltrating an imaginary Eastern European country torn with civil war. The resistence are fighting the government and both sides seem to have access to B.O.Ws (zombies/monsters!). The plot is probably the weakest of the three films but the atmosphere is good, and some of the set-peices are nice. 6/10

Just finished watching the first season. Entertaining and gritty series.

I think I might want to get into that when I've finished going through Arrested Development.
^^
I too remember Jonny Quest from my childhood. I also remember quite enjoying it.
THE ORVILLE: NEW HORIZONS started a while ago... 2 episodes in and I have to say it is still good...very different now though with lot less humor and more serious themes...more in the vein of Star Trek than ever before...in fact this show is more Star Trek than any Star Trek show post Enterprise which makes me very happy.Well I hope they didn't take out all the humor. That was the main reason I liked it.
I passed on it, there seems to be a raft of "quirky dark comedy" out there. Those are code words for, "if we can't really wind up a gag with a good punch line, we'll just kill somebody or other big shock."
What are your thoughts on The Last Of Us? I haven't watched it yet...It's promising if it's woke-free! There's waaaaaay too much of that shit going around!
I liked Carson the best. I gravitate toward resonant voices.
But damn if it doesn't gloss over a good deal of pain endured by "staff" in order to cater to the whims and wishes of their lords and masters. It shows some pain, yes, but in ever so pretty of a way. I enjoyed watching it and then going back and doing further reading on the time period.
RESIDENT ALIEN...
On Netflix, starring Alan Tudyk in an EXCELLENT role as an alien masquerading as a doctor, whose backstory he has no clue about. Great fun with snappy dialogue and acting. It's based on a graphic novel series, which I've bought to read separately. Loving both versions, really.
Sadly it's on Netflix and I boycott that one due to their bs...
My wife wanted to go through all of The Office, having never watched it when it was on broadcast. So we're done with season one and started on season two.
For Vyn...I don't know what to say really... I'd recommend getting back on the wagon starting with the prequels and then the original trilogy...not sure about the new ones...the first was very good though...mainly because of Harrison Ford obviously. The rest got bit....well...disney to be honest. But they too had their moments and ofcourse were visually sublime!
But it is also quite possible the coach has passed your station already and making hopping back on rather difficult...
Watching Star Trek the next generation currently half way through the 4th seasonYes, that was when the series hit its stride and rode it all the way to the end. Great stuff!
By this time the show had really found the perfect beat and only got better as time went on
